pziOS 0.9.0-Beta 5
New
-
Mouse sensitivity (Controls → Edit touch layout). A Sensitivity slider sets how fast the on-screen cursor moves when you drag in PAD mode.
-
Saved touch layouts. The touch editor has a Saved menu: save the current layout under a name, load one, replace it with the current layout, or delete it.
-
Aim stick attack. Choose what the aim stick does: Off, Release (one attack in the aimed direction when you let go) or Auto (attacks over and over while the stick is pushed, using whatever you have equipped).
-
Two-finger zoom switch (Settings → Controls). Turns the two-finger scroll that zooms the game on or off.
-
ZombieBuddy switch (Developer Tools → Tools). Starts the game with
-javaagent:ZombieBuddy.jarfor mods that need ZombieBuddy. PutZombieBuddy.jarin the game folder (Files, pziOS, game); if the file is missing the switch is skipped. -
Zink graphics backend (experimental, Developer Tools → Tools). An optional second graphics path: Graphics Backend: Zink (Experimental) runs the game on Mesa's Zink (OpenGL 4.5 on Vulkan) over MoltenVK (Vulkan on Metal) instead of the normal gl4es + MetalANGLE layer. It exists for mods that need desktop OpenGL 4.5, for example Viewpoint (a 3D renderer mod, needs ZombieBuddy), uses more memory, and is off by default. Next to it: Zink Detailed Log (writes frame timing, draw and pipeline counts and the graphics limits of your device to
jvm.logevery few seconds) and Zink Probe (checks which OpenGL 4.5 features your device supports and saves a short report aszink-probe.txtin the pziOS folder). If you try Zink, please turn on Zink Detailed Log and send yourjvm.log(andzink-probe.txt) together with your device and iOS version; that data is what we need to make it faster. -
iOS 17 and 18 Support. On iOS 26 and later pziOS gets its executable memory from the debugger as a mirror-mapped region. On iOS 17 and 18, pziOS now uses the JVM's classic code-cache path instead, chosen automatically and logged as
settings: JIT path classicinjvm.log. Please report results on iOS 17 and 18 with yourjvm.log.
Use the included 'pzios-jam.js' in StikDebug to configure manual JIT.

pziOS (0.9.0-Beta 2)
New
-
Virtual Gamepad The on-screen controls can act as a game controller (two sticks, A/B/X/Y, D-pad, bumpers, triggers, Back/Start).
-
Increased Memory Holds the game's Java memory in helper processes, so iOS does not count it against the app's own limit (the app's memory then shows lower; the device's real RAM is still the limit). It uses private iOS features, needs the app's extensions (It does not work inside LiveContainer) and may stop working after an iOS update.
Fixed
- The game crashed at the main menu on a fresh install. The game's preview videos need a video library pziOS does not ship; pziOS now keeps the game's "video effects" option off.
Improved
- Clearer JIT helper errors If the built-in JIT helper cannot start, the message now says what to check and shows an error number. The first lines of
jvm.lognow show the app's bundle ID, version, JIT method and helper ID, which makes problem reports much easier to read.

pziOS (0.9.0)
pziOS runs Project Zomboid (Build 42) on an iPhone or iPad with no jailbreak. It is a launcher
plus the runtime the game needs: a Java virtual machine built for iOS, an OpenGL-to-Metal graphics
stack, and audio and input layers.
Features
- Solo play, mods, saves, and direct-connect multiplayer.
- Controls: editable touch layout with an aim stick, game controllers, keyboard and mouse. On-screen controls hide when a controller or keyboard and mouse are connected.
- Display: render resolution presets, UI margins sized to your screen (Auto, or set your own),
up to 120 Hz, iPad layouts. - Performance options: memory limit tiers chosen from what iOS lets the app use, garbage
collector choices (Parallel, pzGC, SGC, pzSGC), JIT compiler choices, ASTC texture compression
with a disk cache. - Setup guide that imports the game and walks through JIT.
Supported Devices
- iPhone 15 Pro or later.
- iPad Pro A12z or later.
- iPad Air M1 or later.
- iPad Mini A17 Pro or later.
- iPad A16 or later.
(0.9.0 is a pre-release version of pziOS)
