Benzi Beta 1 (v0.4.5)
VS Code extension 0.4.5 · PyPI benzi 0.1.6
Known issue: runtime tracer temporarily broken (October 14, 2026). Traced runs still execute, but they miss calls made inside comprehensions, lambdas and generator expressions, and most method calls on Python 3.9–3.10 projects. A fix is coming in the next release.
What's new since v0.4.2
- Cheaper on Claude models. The fixed part of the system prompt is now cached across sessions.
- Claude Sonnet 5.5 supported.
- Better multi-step work on DeepSeek. Its reasoning now carries over between tool calls.
- Long sessions. Context compaction and resume.
- No more hangs. Shell commands get a 10-minute default limit, which Benzi can raise for test suites and builds. Text search returns partial results after 30 seconds.
- Deeply nested code no longer crashes the indexer.
- More bug fixes.

Benzi Beta 1 (v0.4.2)
VS Code extension 0.4.2 · PyPI benzi 0.1.3
What's new in the VS Code extension
- Settings in the sidebar. A Benzi icon in the activity bar opens a settings panel: pick your model, paste your API key, and log in with your email. No terminal needed. It opens by itself right after install.
- Guided setup. Opening Benzi before setup is finished takes you to the settings panel and says what's left, instead of failing with an error.
- Fixed: blank Benzi panel. Clicking Open again while Benzi was starting, or reopening after the engine stopped, could leave a blank panel until Stop + Restart. Both are fixed.

Benzi Beta 1 (v0.4.1)
VS Code extension 0.4.1 · PyPI benzi 0.1.3
This is Benzi's first public beta. Benzi is a compiler-backed AI coding agent: it compiles your codebase into a resolved, queryable map of calls, data flow, control flow and class hierarchy first, then reads, explains, runs, edits and verifies your code using it. A runtime tracer covers what static analysis can't settle.
