Code Quality Improvements

🔍 Structured Logging

  • Migrated 157 print statements to Python logging framework
  • Added BOAT_LOG_LEVEL environment variable for log level control (DEBUG, INFO, WARNING, ERROR, CRITICAL)
  • Default log level: WARNING (to avoid verbose output in production)
  • Created centralized _logging.py utility with consistent formatting

🛡️ Enhanced Error Handling

  • Replaced all 7 assert statements with explicit type checking
  • Improved error messages with descriptive TypeError and ValueError exceptions
  • Better debugging with clear error context

🧹 Code Quality

  • Improved type safety across 13 modules
  • Enhanced debugging capabilities
  • Consistent exception raising patterns
  • Maintained 100% ruff and mypy compliance
