"Faces found that could be"—Add context/info of photo

Hello,

This is sometimes difficult to tell if a face is the good person.

• I often have to right-click and open the image in a new tab.

I would be very useful to:

• Have more information about the photo (like the picture date)
• Have a link we can click to open the photo in context.

Very often the context (or the date to find the context) is very helpful to determine a person.

I just filed this over on immich, since it feels like something that could/should go in the "base" application: immich-app#32424

Looks like I'm not the first OpenNoodle user to want this, and I suppose it's also likely that it could be added here first.

Pretty sure they will close your issue since this is a fork-only feature that doesn't exist in Immich 😀

Sweet! And good to know. I assumed the people/face management stuff was part of the main immich feature set.

I went ahead and closed my request there to save them the trouble.

Yes, this will be of great help. Especially the "open photo". Context is everything.

The only other issue I saw often is when a photo has a wide angle and people's faces are very small. A zoom on the person's face is necessary, but because there is the white square, this is impossible do see in these situations, and because the whole image is darkened. But I think "open photo" will solve this issue. So we can zoom in and look with no hindrances.

If someone leave the "Details" panel open, it would be good, if at all possible, that the face is still visible. It your first screenshot, we cannot see the faces anymore.

Mhmm might be better to render the details on the side then so that it doesn't overflow into a scrolling modal. Thanks for the feedback

By the way, when I said "context" it is not only the photo itself, but the other photos taken the same day, or few days before and after. Sometimes you wonder, who is that? Then the other pictures make it click to you "oh yeah, this is so and so".

Do you think an additional link to see the photos on that same date would be too much (i.e. like open the gallery on the picture to see its surrounding context). — Pushing my luck here! :-)

The "open photo" link opens in a new tab and then you can use the arrow keys to go to previous/next photos to get additional context - I can't think of a good UX to display this and I think it's a bit too niche' to build into this feature
