Packing

Mirror Bot edited this page Aug 31, 2026 · 3 revisions

There are two approaches to generate a deployable archive for end users

cpack

The official and preferred approach is cpack -G ZIP

On Windows the default generator NSIS creates an executable which cannot be run via a terminal connection.

cpack is also used in the build pipeline to distribute between runners - this explains the git hash naming.

create_binary_archive.py

in share/python is the tool create_binary_archive.py which provides some useful command line options. However, this is not the official distribution format.

deployment

See here on naming conventions and how to push a binary to the official deployment pipeline https://github.com/openCFS/cfs/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#notes-for-maintainers
