allow users to hide, pin, or reorder models in the Codex model selector #18561

Description

@rtpguy

What variant of Codex are you using?

26.415.40636 (1799)

What feature would you like to see?

The Codex model dropdown appears in an order that is not useful for my workflow.

What I want:

  • ability to hide models I never use
  • ability to pin preferred models
  • ability to reorder models manually, or at least sort by relative cost / capability

Why:
I mainly use lower-cost models by default and occasionally escalate to stronger models. The current selector ordering increases friction and makes it easier to pick the wrong model.

Expected:
A model selector customization feature, or at minimum a stable sort option such as:

  • lowest to highest cost
  • fastest to strongest
  • pinned models first

Additional information

The whole experience as it is right now is messy and easy for people to over-extend needlessly on credit usage for those without 'unlimited' credits. Having the ability to rank models in order of workflow preference, and/or having a relative token consumption idicator for each, including when new models are added (ideally for the thinking levels as well) would make life a LOT less annoying.
