macOS Tahoe 26.4.1, MacBook Pro 16-inch, Apple M5 Max, 128 GB memory
What issue are you seeing?
The new /goal command does not appear to be discoverable or usable in the Codex Mac Desktop App.
After the recent /goal feature was announced for Codex, I tried to use it in the Codex Mac app. However, when I type /goal in the composer, the slash-command popup shows “No commands”.
This does not look like slash commands are completely broken in general. The command popup opens, but /goal itself is missing from the command list / autocomplete results.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open the Codex Mac Desktop App.
- Open any project or chat.
- Click into the composer input.
- Type
/goal.
- Observe that the slash-command popup shows “No commands”.
What is the expected behavior?
One of the following should happen:
/goal should appear in the slash-command autocomplete and be usable from the Desktop App; or
- the Desktop App should show a clear message that
/goal is currently CLI/TUI-only, experimental, or not yet supported in the Desktop App; or
- the documentation / UI should clarify where
/goal is currently available.
What is the actual behavior?
Typing /goal in the Codex Mac Desktop App shows “No commands”.
There is no explanation telling the user whether the feature is unsupported in the Desktop App, hidden behind an experimental setting, gated by app version, or missing from the slash-command registry.
Why this matters
The current behavior is confusing because /goal appears to be an officially announced Codex feature, but the Desktop App gives no indication of whether it is unsupported or simply missing from autocomplete.
For users who primarily use the Codex Desktop App, this makes the feature effectively undiscoverable and unusable.
