What platform is your computer?
macOS Tahoe 26.4.1, MacBook Pro 16-inch, Apple M5 Max, 128 GB memory
What issue are you seeing?
In the Codex Mac Desktop App, the expandable action log/details panel sometimes fails to render its expanded contents.
This happens intermittently during normal local coding sessions. For example, while Codex is editing or reading files, I click the disclosure chevron to expand the detailed action content. The chevron changes to the expanded/open state, but the detailed content does not appear at all.
This is not a one-time issue. I encountered this at least 10 times today. It does not happen every time, but it happens frequently enough to noticeably slow down normal work.
Usually, I can recover by repeatedly collapsing and expanding the same action once or twice, after which the details appear correctly.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
This is intermittent, but the pattern is:
- Open Codex Mac Desktop App.
- Start a local coding session where Codex edits, reads, or runs actions.
- Click the disclosure chevron for an action log item, such as an editing or reading action.
- Observe that the chevron changes to the expanded/open state.
- Sometimes, no detailed content is rendered below the action, even though the row appears to be expanded.
- Collapse and expand the same row again one or two times.
- The detailed content often appears after retrying.
What is the expected behavior?
When the disclosure chevron is in the expanded/open state, the corresponding action details should be visible immediately and consistently.
If the details are still loading, the UI should show a loading state rather than an empty expanded area.
What is the actual behavior?
The disclosure chevron shows the expanded/open state, but the detailed contents are missing. The action appears expanded, but nothing is displayed.
Collapsing and expanding again usually fixes it, which makes this look like a UI rendering/state synchronization issue rather than missing data.
Why this matters
This makes it harder to supervise Codex while it is editing or running commands. The action details are important for checking what files Codex is touching and what it is doing during a session.
Because the issue is intermittent and happens many times during active work, it creates repeated friction and slows down review/debugging.

Screenshots below show the state where the disclosure chevron appears expanded/open but the detailed content is not visible.
