Codex Desktop: cannot enable Computer Use or Mobile Remote on macOS #24000

@adrewtr

Description

@adrewtr

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.519.31651 (3017)

What subscription do you have?

Not specified yet.

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.3.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

I cannot enable either of these Codex app features:

  • Computer Use
  • Codex Mobile Remote / remote control from the mobile app

This appears to affect the same desktop install/account rather than only one feature. The bundled Computer Use plugin exists locally inside the app bundle:

/Applications/Codex.app/Contents/Resources/plugins/openai-bundled/plugins/computer-use

However, the app does not make Computer Use available to enable. Mobile Remote also does not become enabled/enrolled for this machine.

Recent desktop log snippets from startup show the app server starts successfully, but bundled plugin reconciliation is skipped and remote connections remain empty:

Current reported app-server version: currentVersion=0.133.0-alpha.1
[bundled-plugins] bundled_plugins_reconcile_skipped_features_unavailable reason=focus
[remote-connections/window-context] load_completed savedRemoteConnectionCount=0 totalConnectionCount=0
[remote-connections/window-context] refresh_completed autoConnectConnectionCount=0 codexManagedConnectionCount=0 discoveredConnectionCount=0 nextConnectionCount=0

Codex CLI installed on the machine:

codex-cli 0.22.0

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Install/open Codex Desktop on macOS.
  2. Sign in to the Codex account.
  3. Open settings for Computer Use and try to enable/use it.
  4. Try to enable Codex Mobile Remote / connect the mobile app to this desktop.
  5. Observe that neither feature can be enabled for this machine.

What is the expected behavior?

Computer Use should be available/enabled when the bundled plugin exists and the account/app supports it. Codex Mobile Remote should be able to enroll this desktop so the mobile app can connect to it.

Additional information

Related issues that look adjacent but only cover part of this case:

This issue is for the combined case where both Computer Use and Codex Mobile Remote cannot be enabled on the same macOS desktop install.
