Codex shows outdated (cached) images in the chat even when they were changed on disk #25286

Description

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.519.81530

What subscription do you have?

Pro plan

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

There is a very old bug which makes codex show cached version of project images. I run into it all the time because I have workflows which create "visual snapshots" of game UIs/procedural art and compare against them to make improvements. Instead of showing up to date version codex shows always first read of the session.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Feedback ID: 019e755d-0cb9-79f0-8301-9bf9c941f315

  • Create a script which every time renders a new png image into folder in the project (with the same path/name, gitignored)
  • Ask Codex to trigger the script and read the image multiple times in a way which will show it in the chat
  • When image is shown in the codex window it's always the cached first instanced

What is the expected behavior?

Every time an image is shown in codex window it is the exact up to date render, not outdated cached image
