What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
Desktop App 26.623.61825 and Previous Stable Version
What subscription do you have?
plus
What platform is your computer?
MAC OS
What issue are you seeing?
I noticed that my Codex quota is being heavily consumed even when I am not actively using the application. The Desktop App was simply left running in the background (idle), but it appears to be triggering constant requests or background activities that drain the usage limit.
As shown in the attached dashboard screenshots , there is massive, continuous usage history under Desktop App (red bars) leading up to June 29. It clearly demonstrates that even during periods of complete inactivity where no user interaction occurred, the quota continued to drain steadily. This persistent background depletion does not align with my actual active usage.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Open the Codex Desktop App.
Leave the application running in the background without sending any active prompts or performing code reviews.
Check the usage analytics after a period of time.
What is the expected behavior?
Expected Behavior
Idle time should consume 0% (or near 0%) quota. Background presence should not trigger heavy token/quota consumption.
Actual Behavior
The Desktop App constantly drains the "5-hour usage limit" (currently down to 26%) and shows high volume in the usage chart, even during periods of complete inactivity.
