What version of Codex is running?
codex-cli 0.50.0
What subscription do you have?
Team Plan
Which model were you using?
Codex Low
What platform is your computer?
Darwin 25.0.0 arm64 arm
What issue are you seeing?
I have Codex maintain notes files that summarize where we've gotten to within each session. This allows me to chain sessions together in such a way that I wind up using fewer tokens to solve problems. I know the 'compact' feature exists, but it's opaque, and therefore I don't fully trust it when dealing with difficult problems. It would be very useful if the LLM knew which session ID was currently running, because then I could have it refer to the session by ID when writing the notes.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Uploaded thread: 019a300e-b587-7d81-9e96-9459a635a0cc
Chat to the model and ask it for the session ID - e.g.
› Hi!
• Hey there! How can I help today?
› What's the session ID for this chat?
• I don’t have access to any session ID or similar identifier for this chat.
