0.62.0 - 2026-09-18

Highlights

  • Recover the same Azure VM or DigitalOcean Droplet. Fixed lease IDs let direct provisioning recover the original allocation after a lost reply or readiness failure.
  • Readiness probes now respect their deadlines. Local Container endpoint checks, SSH inspections, and Tart/Scaleway IP discovery include running provider commands and requests in their timeout budgets.
  • Keep signed artifact URLs out of errors. Upload, download, and manifest request failures retain useful diagnostics without exposing signed request URLs.
  • More reliable lease policy and run history. SSH access preserves coordinator idle timeouts, explicit heartbeats can finish access refreshes, and abandoned admissions are finalized without replaying workloads.

Upgrade notes

  • Azure and DigitalOcean fixed lease IDs are single-use and require the original local state and per-lease SSH key. Preserve both through retries and cleanup; changed inputs or accounts are rejected, unresolved allocations retain their recovery state, and successful cleanup retires the ID. Azure fixed-ID creation uses one SKU in the configured location without SKU, market, or region fallback; snapshot forks and ephemeral-preview disks are unsupported on this path. Ordinary Azure provisioning keeps its existing fallback behavior. PR 2351.

Changes

  • Add warmup --lease-id support for direct Azure and DigitalOcean leases. Persist the create intent before allocation, recover the same resource after interrupted provisioning, and reject replaced resources using immutable provider identities. PR 2351. Thanks @steipete.
  • Raise checkpoint limits in the production Cloudflare coordinator configuration to 100 globally, per owner, and per organization, giving retained worker caches more room. Preview, lease, and checkpoint-use claim limits are unchanged. PR 2338. Thanks @steipete.

Fixes

  • Bound each Local Container inspection during SSH readiness to 30 seconds, including final diagnostics, while preserving the overall SSH timeout, original SSH error, and exact-container identity checks. PR 2352. Thanks @steipete.
  • Enforce readiness budgets for Local Container endpoint discovery (30 seconds), Tart IP discovery (five minutes), and Scaleway public-IP discovery (five minutes), including in-flight inspections and requests. Preserve each provider's retry behavior and diagnostics, and honor earlier cancellation. PR 2350, PR 2349, PR 2348. Thanks @steipete.
  • Redact signed artifact request URLs from setup and transport errors for uploads, downloads, and manifests, while preserving the operation and underlying failure. PR 2340. Thanks @steipete.
  • Preserve the coordinator's reported idle timeout when resolving SSH access and updating managed lease claims, so local defaults do not overwrite remote policy. PR 2339. Thanks @steipete.
  • Give explicit broker heartbeats the existing mutation timeout to finish provider access refreshes, while retaining shorter automatic-heartbeat and foreground-touch deadlines, caller cancellation, and single-request behavior. PR 2331. Thanks @steipete.
  • Finalize abandoned pre-work admissions against their original request and authentication, preventing late responses from reopening failed history. Bookkeeping may take up to 60 seconds across three attempts after the 10-second admission allowance; the original command error remains the result, and unresolved history is reported with its run ID. Workloads are not replayed, and older stranded records are not repaired automatically. Issue 2223, PR 2227. Thanks @steipete.
  • Recover abandoned external-provider slug reservation locks on Windows so subsequent reservations can acquire and release them normally. PR 2292. Thanks @zozo123.
  • Let admin commands reuse an already-authorized GitHub broker session when no explicit admin token is configured. Explicit tokens retain precedence, and authorization remains with the coordinator. PR 1714. Thanks @steipete.

Maintenance

  • Refresh the default Tart macOS Sequoia image to the publisher's September 5 image, with verified manifest and VM configuration hashes.
  • Consolidate configuration and flag ownership for Docker Sandbox, Tart, Codespaces, Islo, Boxd, Static, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox, Local Container, and Actions while preserving configured values, input precedence, and saved settings. PR 2327, PR 2329, PR 2332, PR 2333, PR 2334, PR 2335.
  • Share primary machine-class selection across DigitalOcean, Linode, OVH, Scaleway, Hetzner, GCP, TencentCloud, Phala, Namespace Devbox, and Vultr while retaining provider-owned defaults, native overrides, and fallback mappings. PR 2344, PR 2345, PR 2346.
  • Clarify that configured Actions fields and workflow-input inspection belong to hydration; standalone dispatch sends only explicitly supplied fields. PR 2330.
