Welcome

Welcome to the OCP Server Base Manageability Requirements (SBMR) for Arm-based Servers Workstream.

This workstream is a closed CLA Workstream under OCP Hardware Management Project

Charter

Mission Statement

The workstream will develop and publish the Server Base Manageability Requirements (SBMR) for Arm-based Servers specification. SBMR will define a common baseline for manageability on SBSA-compliant Arm AArch64 servers under the OCP Hardware Management Project. SBMR defines a common foundation for server management using standard manageability interfaces and capabilities.

Goals

  • Align Arm server manageability with applicable OCP hardware management requirements & expectations.
  • Provide a common foundation for server management on Arm-based servers, expressed as architectural requirements and rationales, along with recommendations and informative statements.
  • Leveraging industry standards, standardize common manageability interfaces and baseline capabilities.
  • Maximize interoperability and reduce fragmentation across management implementations.

Scope

The workstream is focused on the definition and evolution of baseline manageability requirements for SBSA-compliant Arm servers. This includes common interface sets for Arm SoC-BMC, BMC-platform elements, BMC-IO devices, and Out-of-Band remote management, leveraging industry standards such as Redfish, MCTP, PLDM, SPDM, and IPMI where appropriate.

Out of scope

The workstream is not focused on:

  • Replacing existing industry management standards or OCP Hardware Management Project specifications.
  • Proprietary value-add features above the common baseline.
