I have just learned about PM tiles and adding them as urls. This method really helps with performance. I also see that splitting up a layer into a lot of tiles messes with attribute tables and labels. I see there is an icon to display info about an object when hovering or it is clicked. I've run into a couple of issues. First the field I am interested in I named Name. Looks like there is a conflict in Tippecanoe which converts the geojson to pmtile with this word. So I'll have to go back to the geojsons and use different text. I wonder though if there is a way that for at least mp tiles which can't really be labeled conventionally to have the identify on selection of hovering be turned on by default or turned on by the person putting the project together so it is one for one or more layers. Since a big purpose of a web based approach is to make the maps shareable it would make things simpler for many people who might view it. They wouldn't have to individually go to each layer and turn this on. Maybe there already is a way to do this or it is in the works. Just a couple other comments and thoughts. It would be nice if the items in add data menu were in alphabetical order of some sort of order. It is a long list, It would make finding the type you need easier. Probably that will be done. Also, I noticed in that list a text layer. I'm kind of curious what this might be. Would this be used or could it be used to add a page of text explaining the layers and details about the project, layers and such? I'm new to this app, but it sounds like so is everyone else at this point. |

I noticed the categorize after I posted. I hadn't noticed them before and
even had my glasses on. I do use a laptop with a smaller screen. Maybe the
categories could be more distinct or maybe it's just me

The Add Data menus are grouped by category. Under each category, the most
commonly used ones are usually placed on top. I would prefer not to order
them alphabetically, whcih would result in some commonly used ones being
placed at the bottom.

Each layer type come with some sample datasets. You can always try them
out to get a sense of the data. The Demilited Text Layer is designed for
CSV files that contains coordinate information, converting tabular data to
spatial data.
