When the user is running the latest stable version, the release notes screen, which is accessed by clicking on the version number, offers the release notes as usual but now also has a button to choose to install beta. By selecting beta the user gets offered the beta release notes and can choose to install. We might consider adding a warning. going back to stable might be hard, especially if the config file has changed. Currently we haven't attempted to install a "go back" button.
