A number of OpenScholar terms have a different meaning than common Drupal usage. When in doubt, check here!

Control Panel (CP)

  • Control Panel is a simple administrative menu that appears at the top of the page for a vsite admin user viewing an OS Site they have access to.

OS App

  • An OS App is a set of features (os_features) in a module module configured to operate individually across vsites on a single OpenScholar installation.

Vsite

  • A Vsite (VEE-site) is a "Virtual Site". One OpenScholar installation can host unlimited vsites. This is the core building block of OpenScholar, providing individually customizable config environments. Vsites can have custom domains or paths, restricted access to certain users, and can configure individual page layouts, content, settings and more.

Preset

A preset is a set of OS apps selected to meet a specific use case for a new vsite. For example, the "Academic Department" preset allows users to create new Department vsites with all the common apps used by similar sites already enabled.
