OpenScholar is a full-featured open-source web site-creation package designed for the academic community.

Overview

A single OpenScholar installation can host just one site, or multiple sites, each with user-selected appearance, features, settings and content. This is achieved through the OS Site (vsite) content type using organic groups, purl, spaces, context and special sauce (os.module).

Site Building

OpenScholar simplifies and enhances many common site features into a Control Panel (cp.module). The control panel provides four main sections:

Menus

Primary and secondary menus come out of the box, users can modify them and add their own.

Features

Read more about the anatomy of an OS feature.

Layout

An easy drag and drop interface with contexts under the hood greatly simplifies adding, enabling and placing widgets.

Taxonomy

Ad-hoc user tags for categorizing site content.
