Highlights

  • DirectML stability (Windows): fixes native crashes when rendering with DirectML. Creating, running and closing inference sessions no longer overlap on the same device, which used to close OpenUtau with no error message. A model that DirectML rejects now falls back to CPU instead of failing the render (by @KakaruHayate in #2494). A use-after-free when creating a session is also fixed (by @Evi233 in #2503).

  • Hifisampler loudness: hifisampler's P flag now uses Worldline's auto gain. Notes that are mostly decay or unvoiced (rest endings, breaths, CVVC consonants) are no longer boosted above their neighbors, quiet onsets are no longer muted, and note ends no longer dip. by @stakira

  • Install missing packages: when a render needs an engine package that isn't installed (hnsep, or the hifisampler vocoder), OpenUtau offers to install it and render again, instead of showing a stack trace. Choosing WORLDLINE-R1.1, WORLDLINE-R2 or hifisampler offers its packages right away. by @stakira

  • Smoother UI:

    • Wheel scrolling and zooming in the piano roll and tracks view glide instead of jumping. You can turn this off with Reduce animations in Appearance preferences.
    • You can grab the viewport indicator on the open part in the tracks view to scroll the piano roll. Its grip shows on hover (#2490 by @atouu).
    • Pitch and curve drags keep up with the mouse and keep every drawn point. Edits are checked once per frame, and phrase snapshots allocate about 4× less memory.
    • Waveforms in the piano roll and in wave parts no longer shimmer, lag behind or blur while scrolling. Scrolling the piano roll redraws only the open part.
    • The dark theme is restyled with a purple-tinted charcoal, softer text, a brighter rendered pitch line, and controls that follow the theme colors.

New features

  • A resampler manifest can list extra meta files (files). They are copied into the cache with the wav and copied back afterwards. by @AnAndroNerd in #1768
  • You can choose the stable, beta or alpha channel in the updater dialog. by @stakira
  • The min and max of built-in expressions can now be edited. Name, abbreviation, type and flag stay locked, and min must be below max. by @stakira
  • A preutterance override past the oto's value now moves the offset earlier, down to the start of the file, the way the oto editor does. Before, it was capped at the oto's value. Lengthen crossfade is still capped at the oto. by @stakira

Phonemizers

  • VCCV: baseBpm is supported in the YAML, and preutterance and consonant velocity issues are fixed. by @AnAndroNerd in #2497
  • En to Ja: vowel lookup no longer breaks when WanaKana has numbers as phonemes. by @Cadlaxa in #2498

Fixes

  • Worldline crash when preutterance is lengthened past the oto's. by @stakira
  • An external resampler named like a built-in one, such as an extensionless Resamplers/hifisampler on macOS, no longer replaces the built-in. by @stakira
  • Loading Voicevox rendered pitch no longer spills into neighboring phrases or erases their rendered pitch. by @rokujyushi in #2501
  • The piano roll waveform is clipped to its bounds. by @stakira
  • Track header controls no longer overflow (#2489), and Preferences text fields are easier to read (#2502). by @atouu
