Enve Book Player 1.2 build 55 for Android.

Install Enve-Book-Player-1.2.55.apk to update an existing GitHub release. Requires Android 8.0 or later; includes ARM64, ARMv7, x86 and x86_64.

Built and signed through Android Studio using the existing release key. APK signature and 16 KB alignment verified. Successfully installed over build 53 on a Pixel 7a and cold-launched without fatal or runtime linkage errors.

Verification: 2,574 unit tests passed, two skipped. Debug build and release lint passed; existing lint warnings remain. Provenance checks passed.

Android Auto vehicle/DHU, Cast, Wear hardware and live provider integrations were not rechecked for this release.

Matching Android source and third-party source archives are attached. The application archive includes build scripts, notices, vendored libmobi and Foliate source; signing material and local configuration are excluded. Source is also available in the public Android snapshot. SHA256SUMS covers all downloadable release files.

Fixes and cleanup

• Fixed progress and audiobook metadata mixing between server connections that use the same book IDs.
• Scoped provider caches to the correct server and account.
• Improved audiobook checkpoint ordering, resume handling, and Android Auto progress persistence.
• Fixed the Sync Center pending count to reflect the persistent retry queue.
• Preserved cancellation during provider and sync operations.
• Fixed concurrent KOReader link updates and streamed-comic cleanup when reopening a book.
• Respected manual and provider-supplied comic reading direction.
• Removed unused sync code and improved contributor setup and source-safety checks.

Verification

• Built and signed the release APK through Android Studio.
• Verified the signing certificate matches the build 52 GitHub APK.
• Installed it as an update over build 52 on the physical Pixel 7a and confirmed successful launch without fatal or runtime linkage errors.
• Independently built the attached source archive: 2,244 unit tests passed; two optional tests skipped. Debug build, release lint, and acknowledgement inventory passed. Existing lint warnings remain.
• Verified APK signature, 16 KB alignment, and sensitive-data/build-path scans.

Android Auto vehicle/DHU testing, Cast hardware, Wear hardware, and live provider integrations were not rechecked for this APK.

Use the attached Enve-Book-Player-Android-1.2-build-53-source.tar.gz to rebuild this APK. It contains the matching Android working-tree snapshot, build scripts, notices, vendored native source, and Foliate sources, without private Git history, signing material, or local configuration. The separate jcifs-ng 2.1.10 source archive matches the revision and digest recorded in the source notices. The matching Android source is now also available on public main in source update f62bc79, alongside the iOS 1.2.6 update. The attached Android source archive remains the exact build snapshot; the original release tag and its automatically generated archives have not been moved.

Reading and sync

• Added passages to reading-position conflicts so you can see where each device left off.
• Fixed stale positions overwriting newer server progress when opening a book. Enve also recognises deliberate rewinds and ignores its own sync updates.
• Improved Audiobookshelf listen-along resume, EPUB positions, and chapter matching. An empty reading or listening position no longer replaces a saved one.
• Imported highlights are checked against the book text. Highlights that cannot be located stay saved and are retried.
• KOReader links now detect replaced EPUB files and update their hashes.
• Expanded OPDS browsing, downloads, sign-in, and reading-progress support.
• Fixed provider metadata and progress handling for Komga, Kavita, Grimmory, Jellyfin, Emby, and TorBox.

Android

• StoryAlign keeps the previous read-aloud book when a new alignment scores worse. You can restore the earlier version yourself.
• Fixed BookOrbit highlights with attached notes not appearing in the reader.
• Fixed reader page restoration, PDF page counts, comic edge taps, and highlight handles across paragraphs.
• Removed unavailable libraries during refresh and stopped requesting covers for missing books.
• Fixed repeated progress updates after an audiobook finishes and preserved reading positions when toggling reader controls.
• Improved podcast episode lists, search labels, and large-library queries.
• Added a configurable rest-your-eyes reminder.

Checked before release

Tested the signed APK in the Pixel 7a emulator: local book import, audio playback and controls, background playback, EPUB page turns, and saved reading progress after restarting. Supporting emulator tests: 30 passed, one optional benchmark skipped.

Physical-device testing and live server integrations were not rechecked for this release.
