If you just want to save the top level value of a symbol that holds a bitmap, then just use (VARS bitmapVar ...) in the COMS. It should "do the right thing" in MAKEFILE.

Subject: [Interlisp.org] Saving bitmaps to files (Discussion #2630)
How do I make the File Manager notice a bitmap so that it can be saved to an Interlisp source file? I actually already did it once and know it involves the BITMAPS command, but forgot the details of inserting the bitmap data as the value of the command.

It doesn't make a difference to the content of the saved file whether you use VARS or BITMAPS (except the command on the fileCOMS). If you want to add something to a file, and File Manager doesn't seem to have an obvious way to add it as the type you want -- use |
