Fedora 43: KMS capture fails when running sunshine from app launcher. Works when running in CLI

KMS capture fails when running from the app launcher in Fedora 43. It then Defualts to xwaylandvideobridge

• Sunshine version: 2026.206.151412-1.fc43 repo - :copr.fedorainfracloud.org:lizardbyte:beta

I did run sudo setcap cap_sys_admin+p $(readlink -f $(which sunshine)) and the issue still persists.

Another fun side effects is when logging in/starting a new session, KDE ask to start X11 capture every time.

alias sunshine='sunshine & disown' is a workaround for now. So I don't have to leave the terminal session open while sunshine runs.

I found it, about 2 minutes before your post.

updated the command line arguments for the app in the app launcher, to sunshine-kms, and it works now.

For anyone else that finds this, and is very new to Linux. If you want sunshine to start with KMS on system startup (for your user)
systemctl --user --now disable sunshine
systemctl --user --now enable sunshine-kms
