After the passing of our beloved Jean-Thierry, we launched an award named after him to honor him, keep his memory alive, and, foremost, inspire people to do good work for the community. Every year, the community votes on who has done the most for Orchard Core.

It’s your turn to nominate a community member!
In a message below, nominate someone (@mention them) who you think has done the most for Orchard Core, and include a sentence explaining what they’ve done. This can include activities such as code contributions (including documentation), help under issues and discussions, evangelism and outreach, community management, or anything else - as long as it’s public and tangible.

Nominations are open until midnight on August 30, anywhere on Earth.
After that, the community will vote on the nominees privately. The winner will then be announced at the Orchard Harvest conference on September 10.

What does the winner get?
The award is foremost about recognition. However, the community provides some perks too:

• A mention of each year’s winner in the docs.
• A special role on our Discord server highlighting your name.
• A post about it on Orchard Core’s social media channels.
• @Lombiq provides free custom domain usage on DotNest, publicity for the winner in Lombiq’s media, and a year of sponsorship similar to other open-source contributors and projects.

Let's first nominate some longtime Orchard heroes who are still actively contributing almost every week: @sebastienros, @agriffard, @Piedone, and @BenedekFarkas. And, of course, @Skrypt, who has recently been behind some of the biggest changes the project has seen in years.

Just a little thought, coz I'm wondering what the criteria are to nominate the people

• Should they be in the Core Team? Which I don't think so
• People's impact in the Orchard Core Community, regardless if they are making massive contributions to OC or not
• I remember many people did a great job, such as @deanmarcussen, @ns8482e, @sfmskywalker .. etc. Maybe some of them are busy with their work, but they are making an impact
• For the steering meeting, many of the folks, including me, suffer from meeting time due to the time zone. I know many attend weekly, but does that mean we should nominate only those?!!

The conclusion we need to come up with certain criteria to make this useful, like other CMS ecosystems

I understand, but if that's the case, of course, the top 3 active members will be the nominators, which is not making sense IMHO

What I want to point to that the core team has a lot of responsibilities, but I remember there were a few members a long time ago done some activities; the question can we consider them. I can list some if it is required, but the question is: can I compare them with the active members?

Yes, you can nominate anybody, from any era, who fits the above criteria. Obviously, if somebody only contributed years ago and have been inactive since then, they won't be recognized by people and thus won't be voted on.

Orchard heroes. It reminded me of the TV show Hogan's heroes (Papa Schultz in French, catch phrase: "I know nothing").

IMHO, we need to find a way to motivate the OC contributors, especially for those who are not on the OC Core team. With all due respect to all of you guys, we need to encourage the community too

Regarding the OC repo only, I think @gvkries did a great job since the last Orchard Harvest. Also, @Skrypt made several contributions that have had a great impact.

Overall, I will vote for George, with respect to all of the whole team
