Can you recommend a good laptop for working as a data analyst? #170117
Select Topic AreaQuestion BodyI need a good laptop to work remotely as a data analyst. I know it depends a lot on what you're going to be doing, whether you work with AI or not, etc., but I'd like something with a maximum budget of €1,000 or similar (obviously, if there's something better for €50-100 more, for example, that's fine too) that can do a bit of everything. My desktop PC is currently letting me down, I often find a job but i am away from home, so given the current situation, I opted for a laptop. Any ideas? |

Man, you dont need an expensive one. Just regular laptop with normal specs works as well. Make sure you have SSD and high storage. |

If you have that budget, then go for the Apple MacBook Air. |

I would recommend trying both Mac and Windows. You can usually do this through a return guarantee, which typically lasts about two weeks — enough time to see which suits you better. I also want to emphasize that, regardless of the operating system, you should choose at least 16 GB of RAM and an SSD instead of an HDD, preferably 512 GB or more. In general, for analytics work, almost any computer will do, even a budget one. Personally, I recommend considering options from Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 series. |

Listen It depends on your budget and the work load you have, suppose you are a beginner level any 30 to 40k laptop Present date laptop is good if you are intermediate then you can go up till 70 to 80k which mostly is great, also don't go for dedicated gpu buy the laptop as slim as possible having good battery because you are not going to play games you are going to work on it. |
Go for 16 GB RAM, a fast SSD (≥512 GB) and a recent CPU (Intel i5/i7 or AMD Ryzen 5/7 or Apple M2/M4 if you prefer macOS). Only get an NVIDIA GPU if you plan to train big models locally; otherwise use cloud GPUs.
Good practical picks: Acer Swift 3, Dell 14 Plus / Inspiron Plus, Asus ZenBook 14, or MacBook Air (M2/M4) aim for the 16 GB configuration.
Quick tips:
16 GB RAM > 8 GB for coding + browsers + Jupyter
SSD is mandatory for snappy work.
Use cloud (Colab / AWS / GCP) for heavy ML training to save money.
