Unable to resubscribe after cancelling Copilot Pro+ yearly plan to switch to monthly billing #197560
🏷️ Discussion TypeQuestion 💬 Feature/Topic AreaCopilot in GitHub BodyHi everyone, I was an active GitHub Copilot Pro+ subscriber on a yearly plan. Today I cancelled my annual subscription because I wanted to switch to monthly billing. The refund was processed successfully, but when I tried to subscribe again, I discovered that new Copilot sign-ups are currently paused. As a result, my account was downgraded to Copilot Free and I can no longer resubscribe. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a way to restore a previously active subscription or able to switch to monthly billing? Thanks for any insights! |

Unfortunately, I think the issue is that once the annual subscription was canceled and refunded, the account lost its active Copilot Pro+ status. Since new Copilot sign-ups are currently paused, the system may treat it as a new subscription rather than a billing change. I'd recommend contacting GitHub Support directly and explaining that you were an active subscriber who only intended to switch billing cycles. They may be able to restore the previous subscription or provide guidance on available options. Hopefully GitHub can make an exception in cases like this, since you already had an active paid subscription. |
