I am a Pro+ user. You rolled out a new billing model today, and I asked Copilot to make a simple modification for me—which immediately consumed 341.5 credits—just to change two lines of code. Your new billing system is absolutely atrocious. Are you really sure a product like this can compete with OpenAI and Claude? At this rate, my $39 subscription will be completely depleted after asking barely 20 questions. Your product manager is a complete moron. I will never use any of your products again.

As the screenshots clearly demonstrate, I simply requested a resolution to two specific issues. These issues—and the resulting bugs—stemmed from code previously generated by your AI service that failed to fully address the problem. I then asked the AI ​​to assist me in fixing these bugs, only to be presented with this outrageous bill.ticket:#4435683

When programmers use your AI product, they go through a workflow involving AI-generated code, bug analysis, and subsequent bug fixes—bugs which, ironically, stem from the very imperfections in the code provided by your AI tool. Your new token-based pricing model is now completely out of touch with reality when compared to offerings from OpenAI or Include. I suspect your product managers have never written a single line of code themselves; simply put, your product currently fails to deliver even the most basic functionality: generating complete, usable code that is free of obvious bugs—because programmers simply cannot afford your billing rates.

the same has happened to me and i totally agree with cooperong.
After 15 minutes simply task that commonly would not reach the usage of neither 1%, I HAD 10% CREDITS OF Copilot Pro+ USED!!

Copilot is not usable like this, in 1 day, at most, i would finish my $39 dollar subscription GitHub Copilot Pro+

this isn't accetable the tool can't be used like this.
I opened a ticket, comunicate if this is an error or the expected behaviour, because if this is the case I have to cancel my subscription as soon as possible.

The usage was too fast. Using with caution for half a day, I ran out of the required amount in just half a month.

Yes, I completely agree with canceling the subscription if GitHub Copilot doesn’t change its current policy.I used to be a Pro user. With 300 Premium Requests, I could usually make it last about half a month if I was careful. Feeling that it wasn’t enough, I upgraded to Pro+. I thought it should be fine since the limit was increased by 5x. However, I’ve only been using it for half a day today and I’ve already burned through 21% of my credits. At this rate, how is this supposed to last a whole month?

Please stop feeding us technical AI theory—explaining things like how inference consumes tokens—as if we don't already know. Everyone here consists of technical professionals and recruiters; we are just as knowledgeable about these concepts as you are. The core issue right now is that your product is suffering from severe defects—problems that simply do not occur, or at least not to such an absurd degree, in competing products. The critical point now is your attitude toward addressing these issues. Otherwise, I am prepared to cancel my Copilot subscription and switch to a product from another company, as Copilot can no longer even reliably perform its fundamental function of generating production-ready code.

Pro+ subscription, 39$ monthly,
10% credits consumed for a simple code modification, in 15 minutes! Last month I had use, with same request, at most 3% in a day!

Millions of users and no planning or testing before to rule out this?!

At this rate charge, it's becoming impossible to use this tool.

I genuinely hope GitHub has made an error,
if not for sure i will stop my plan subscription asking for refund

Github answer if it is a error or an expected behavior. Now the tool is unusable with this pricing.

If Copilot ceases to function properly as an AI programming tool, I will cancel my subscription, as it would then hold no value whatsoever. I have already submitted a support ticket; if I do not receive an immediate and satisfactory resolution, I will proceed with the cancellation. As things stand, the "Pro Max" plan is truly an utterly ridiculous offering.

I have already moved to Anthropic, it works as in vscode as copilot, i will try it also in Cline

just throwing my comment in the mix that my $39 plan was completely used up in about 2 hours of normal use. I will not let my subscription renew if there isn't a change to this. i'll be finding another provider. i heard codex is good these days, may try that. i used claude previously and didn't hate it.
i just loved the agent system within copilot. but new cost model is unsustainable and I will not be resubscribing.

also, i have never before posted on github community before today; never felt the need to, but this change was so bad i felt the need to come and speak out about it. github, microsoft, i hope this is seen and understood and rectified. i get they were trying to balance things, but they balanced things in the same way anakin skywalker brought balance to the force

For the other people who felt treated like objects for consumption.

I moved to Claude.ai,
much much better, extension that run in vscode/codium, cheaper, feel more precise and stable, plenty of credits if used correctly, handled in a different much relaxing clear way, by waiting few time if reached the limit, that anyway gives far more space to code.

If i knew it before I would have moved before!

if the management at GitHub Copilot could read our comments, they should at least keep the 0 credit models available even when the AI-credits have been depleted.

I have also encountered the same problem.
1.May 31st， my usage showed 10% consumption.

2..June 1st, without any significant change in my usage pattern, it suddenly jumped to 50%.

3.In the billing/usage dashboard, I cannot find a breakdown of how many tokens each specific large model consumed (e.g., GPT-4, GPT-3.5-turbo, or others).
