Hi GitHub Community,

I'm posting from another account because my main GitHub account is inaccessible and I cannot sign in.

I previously contacted GitHub Support regarding my account, which appears to have been disabled, restricted, or is otherwise inaccessible. At the moment, I am unable to access GitHub services, manage my account, or make payments. This has also prevented me from using GitHub for my development work and ongoing projects.

Because I cannot access my main account, I'm also unable to check the status of my support request through the Support Portal.

I understand that the GitHub Community cannot resolve account-specific issues or expedite support requests. I'm simply asking whether there is any way to confirm that my request has reached the appropriate support team and is in the correct queue for review.

I'm happy to provide any additional information, identity verification, or complete any remediation steps required by GitHub Support to restore access to my account.

I’m in a very similar situation and completely understand how frustrating this is.

My GitHub account also became inaccessible without any clear explanation. I can no longer sign in, access my repositories, manage my projects, or use GitHub services that I rely on daily. I’ve already submitted a support request and completed all the recommended troubleshooting steps, but I’m still waiting for a response.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

• Submitted an appeal through GitHub Support.
• Verified that I’m using the correct email address and username.
• Attempted password resets multiple times.
• Checked my email (including spam) for any messages from GitHub.
• Tried signing in from different browsers, devices, and networks.
• Cleared browser cache and cookies.
• Verified that there are no issues with my 2FA or recovery methods.
• Waited several days hoping the restriction would be lifted automatically.

Unfortunately, none of these steps have restored access to my account. Since the account is suspended/inaccessible, it’s also difficult to track the status of the support request or continue work on active repositories.

I hope GitHub Support can prioritize these cases, as losing access to a development account can significantly disrupt ongoing work. If anyone has recently gone through the same experience and successfully recovered their account, I’d appreciate hearing how long the process took and whether there were any additional steps that helped.

Hi, a couple of important notes before anything else:
You should edit this post to remove your email address. GitHub Discussions is public and indexed — posting your email publicly just invites spam and phishing attempts, and it's not needed for anyone here to help you. Your GitHub username alone is enough for support to look you up internally.
Now, to your actual question:
You're right that the Community forum can't access, expedite, or check the status of individual support tickets — this is a public peer-to-peer discussion space, not connected to GitHub Support's internal ticketing system, and no GitHub staff triage account-restriction cases here.
For confirming your ticket is in the queue:

Check your email (including spam/junk folders) for an auto-reply from GitHub Support confirming receipt — this usually includes a ticket number. If you didn't get one, your original request may not have gone through.
Resubmit via the official channel if you're not sure it was received: https://support.github.com/contact — for account access/login issues specifically, use the "I can't access my account" flow rather than a general contact form, as it routes to the right team faster.
Do not create duplicate tickets for the same issue — this can actually slow things down as support has to de-duplicate. If you already have a ticket number, referencing it in follow-up correspondence (not a new ticket) is the right move.
Response times for account restriction/access cases can genuinely take longer than typical support requests since they often require manual identity verification — there's unfortunately no way to expedite this from the community side, and no GitHub staff reads Discussions for this purpose.
