Hi everyone,

I have submitted my schedule with the classes and school name visible, and it keeps getting rejected. I also get told to set my legal name on GH, which I did, as well as billing. My location shows as not on my collage, when I am on campus.

Since you're already on campus and have updated your billing/legal names, here is a factual checklist to help you bypass the location and document errors:

📍 Fixing the Location Error

GitHub's automated system is highly sensitive to IP addresses and browser location data. If it thinks you aren't on campus while you physically are, it's usually an interference issue.

• Turn off all VPNs and Proxies: Ensure you don't have a VPN running. If you are using an Apple device, temporarily disable iCloud Private Relay in your settings. Private Relay masks your IP address and will cause an automatic location rejection.
• Apply via a Mobile Device: Try going through the verification process on your smartphone while connected to the campus Wi-Fi. Mobile devices use GPS combined with Wi-Fi triangulation, which usually provides the accurate location data GitHub needs.
• Check Browser Permissions: Ensure your browser settings (on mobile or laptop) actively allow GitHub to access your location services.

📄 Fixing the Schedule Rejection

Even if your classes and school name are visible, the automated system looks for very specific criteria to verify current enrollment.

• Visible Dates: Your schedule must clearly display the current academic term (e.g., "Fall 2026") or the current date. Without a timeframe, the system assumes it's an old document.
• Exact Name Match: Double-check that the name printed on your schedule is a 1:1 match with the legal and billing name you just updated on GitHub. Watch out for middle initials or shortened names.
• Original Photos vs. Screenshots: The system frequently flags digital screenshots or downloaded PDFs. If you are submitting a screenshot, try printing the schedule out and taking a live photo of the physical paper, or use your phone to take a photo of the schedule displayed on your laptop screen.

Hi! @leotheteo Here are a things you can check:

• Make sure your schedule clearly shows your full legal name, the school name and that it is for the current academic term.

• Ensure that the name on your GitHub account matches the name on your school documents exactly.

• If your campus location is not being detected correctly do not worry much. That is usually not the verification method.

If everything looks correct and it is still being rejected I would recommend opening a support ticket, with GitHub Education.

You should ask them to review your application.

When you open the ticket include the rejection message and the document you submitted.

However do not share any information that you are not comfortable sharing.

Hopefully they can tell you exactly what is causing the rejection of your GitHub Education application.
