I can not choose AI Model on VSCODE #202753

Hi Blevent, What you’re seeing — the “Auto Selection” option in GitHub Copilot Pro — is currently the expected behavior. Copilot Pro uses automatic model selection, meaning it chooses the most suitable AI model (usually GPT‑4‑Turbo or Claude 3.5 Sonnet) based on your subscription tier and the task you’re performing. The dropdown you see in VS Code (showing “Auto,” “Claude Sonnet 5,” “GPT‑5.6 Sol,” “GPT‑5.6 Terra,” etc.) is part of the upcoming manual model selection feature, which GitHub is gradually rolling out. For most users, only “Auto Selection” is active right now — the other models appear but aren’t selectable yet. To make sure you’re ready when the feature becomes available: If it’s still locked to “Auto,” that means your account isn’t yet part of the rollout. You can contact GitHub Support referencing this discussion (#202753) to confirm your eligibility. For now, “Auto Selection” ensures you always get the best available model for your plan — manual choice will come soon as GitHub expands the rollout. You’re already set up correctly; the feature just hasn’t been fully released to all users yet. |
