GitHub Student Developer Pack #203486

Hey! Don't worry, you actually don't need a .edu email to get the Student Pack. GitHub lets you apply with your personal email as long as you provide valid proof that you're currently enrolled. Since you're at UoPeople, you can just grab a document directly from your student portal. Something like a screenshot of your active course dashboard, a current class schedule, or a Confirmation of Enrollment letter from student support works fine—it just needs to clearly show your full name, University of the People, and a current date. When you apply on the GitHub Education page, pick your personal email and search for UoPeople as your school. Select the option to upload proof of student status, attach your document, and do the quick location check. Just make sure the name on your GitHub profile matches your school docs before you submit so it goes through smoothly. Also, avoid using temporary or fraudulent .edu emails you might see online. GitHub verifies student status, so providing false info will likely just get your application rejected or action taken on your account. |

Hello and thank you for your response.
I have a "Enrollment Confirmation Letter" issued by UoPeople but it's
demanding an .edu mail even there is no option of proof submission for me
there. Without adding the .edu mail, the submit button is unresponsive.

I can't see any option of "My school doesn't provide edu mail" here.
…On Fri, Jul 31, 2026, 01:42 Moaaz Sameh ***@***.***> wrote:
That usually happens for two main reasons on the GitHub Education portal.
First, look closely near the email selection prompt for a small option or
link that says something like "I don't have a school-issued email" or "My
school does not provide emails." Clicking that bypasses the .edu domain
prompt and unlocks the document upload step for your personal email. Just
make sure your personal email is already verified in your main GitHub
account settings so you can select it from the dropdown.
Second, if the submit button stays grayed out or completely unresponsive,
it's almost always a browser permission or adblocker issue. GitHub's form
runs an automatic location check in the background before enabling the
button. If an adblocker, VPN, or browser privacy setting is blocking
location services or camera access, the submit button won't activate.
Try opening the page in a clean browser window (or on your phone's
browser), make sure location permissions are allowed when prompted, and
select the option indicating you don't have a school email—that should let
you upload your Enrollment Confirmation Letter smoothly!

I have clicked the university name from drop-down option, enabled location
use and none of ad blocker or any other such things are blocked but it's
still unresponsive.

Got it, thanks for clarifying! You're right—there isn't a specific button
for that, so my bad on the confusion there.
Here is the exact way to get past that screen with your personal email:
First, make sure your personal email is already added and verified in your
main account settings (Settings -> Emails).
On the application form, select your personal email from the dropdown,
then type "University of the People" in the school field and make sure to
click "University of the People" from the auto-suggest dropdown list. If
you just type the name without clicking the suggestion, the form won't
register your school and the submit button will stay disabled.
If the button is still grayed out after that, it's a browser permission
lock. GitHub requires live location verification before enabling the submit
button. Turn off any VPN or adblocker, make sure your browser has
permission to access your location, or try doing this step on your phone's
browser where location permissions are usually easier to manage.
Once that unlocks, it will take you straight to the document upload step
for your Enrollment Confirmation Letter.

I'm using mobile for the application, but all vain. I have also submitted a
ticket on GitHub Support.
…On Fri, Jul 31, 2026, 02:01 Moaaz Sameh ***@***.***> wrote:
Ah okay, that makes sense then. If you're selecting a personal email for
UoPeople, the desktop UI often hard-locks the submit button because
GitHub's database expects a school domain, plus desktop browsers sometimes
fail to launch the required live camera verification system.
The easiest workaround is to try completing the application using your
phone's browser with both location and camera permissions enabled. The
mobile interface handles the live camera document check much better and
usually bypasses the grayed-out button issue when using a personal email.
If it still blocks you on mobile due to the domain match, your best bet is
to open a ticket directly with GitHub Support under Education issues. Just
explain that UoPeople doesn't issue emails until your 3rd term and attach
your Enrollment Confirmation Letter. Support handles UoPeople students
facing this exact hurdle all the time and can manually approve the pack for
you.

Hi everyone,
I'm currently a UoPeople Student, they don't issue any student emails till your 3rd Term, is there any other way to get GitHub Student Developer Pack or is there any institution that'll provide student email for free?
