I have a GitHub Administrator certification that is still current, and I need to be able to associate it with my microsoft learn account. Can I please have some assistance to do this as I am not able to log a ticket with Microsoft support (it has locked me out from logging in to the support centre).

Hi @VickiTurns, The right fix depends on when you sat the exam, since GitHub certifications changed delivery partners on July 1, 2025:

If you earned it before July 1, 2025 (via PSI):
It lives on your GitHub Learn profile, and your badge stays in Credly. There's currently no self-service way to push a legacy certification into a Microsoft Learn profile — it isn't a settings toggle you're missing. Your certification remains valid for its full term; it just won't show under Learn's Credentials tab. When it comes time to recertify, you'd go through Microsoft Learn / Pearson VUE and it'd land there natively.

If you earned it on or after July 1, 2025 (via Pearson VUE, GH-100):
It should sync automatically. First check https://learn.microsoft.com/users/me/credentials/?tab=credentials-tab while signed in. The most common cause of a "missing" cert here is an account mismatch — the exam was registered under a different Microsoft account, or your Pearson VUE profile email doesn't match your Microsoft certification profile email. Compare those two emails first; if they differ, that's almost certainly it, and only support can merge the records.

On the support access problem:
Two routes that don't go through the general support centre:

1. https://aka.ms/credentialssupport — the credentials-specific request form. A known snag: it sometimes redirects into the Engage Center. If that happens, set Product family → Learning and Product or Service → Microsoft Credentials, and the correct form appears. Choose Email as the contact method, and include your Learn username (from profile settings), the exam date, and a screenshot of your score report.
2. GitHub Support at https://support.github.com — GitHub maintains the certification program even though Microsoft now delivers the exams, so they can help or route it internally.

If you can share which side of that July 1 date your exam falls on, maybe I can point you more precisely.

Hi, I passed the exam on 07/11/2023. I need to have the certification recognised by my new workplace for the Microsoft partnership process - is there a way to ensure they can use the certification?

As far as I'm aware, a 2023 pass puts you in the PSI era, and those don't move across to a Microsoft Learn profile. From what GitHub have said, anything earned before July 2025 just stays on your GitHub Learn profile with the Credly badge, and there's no migration path for it.

For the partnership side that's the part that actually bites. Partner Center only counts certs sitting in a Microsoft Learn profile linked to the org's tenant, and a Credly badge doesn't reach it, so I don't think your new workplace can use the 2023 one for that process no matter how valid it still is.

The upside is there's a way forward that doesn't touch the support centre at all. Email learn@github.com, that goes straight to the GitHub Certification team. Legacy certs run three years, so yours is about to lapse anyway (November, if I'm reading the date right). GitHub are currently extending certs that expire before the new recertification process launches by six months, and if yours has already lapsed they'll send you a free retest voucher instead. Either route ends with you re-sitting GH-100 through Pearson VUE, and that one does land in Microsoft Learn.

Two things to get right when you sit it: use the Microsoft account you'll actually be on at the new job, and have their partner admin link you in Partner Center first. Exams booked under a personal account that never got linked are the classic reason a cert exists but doesn't count for anything.

I'd also get their partner admin to confirm GH-100 feeds the designation they're chasing before you book. Only exams within that solution area earn skilling points and I don't want to promise you something there.

One tip on that credentials form, since it trips people up: it often needs two passes. Sign in, fill in your contact details and save, then open the same link again in a new tab and it'll auto-select Product Family: Learning and Service: Microsoft Credentials. Pick Professional No Charge and email as the contact method, and include your Learn username from your profile settings. They usually come back within about 72 business hours.

Building on edwinsatya's point about the July 1, 2025 delivery-partner change — the key thing is that GitHub certifications don't integrate with Microsoft Learn, so there's no "link" step to enable; the association depends entirely on which platform delivered your exam:

1. If you sat the exam after July 1, 2025: GitHub certifications are delivered through Microsoft/Pearson VUE, and the credential lands in your Microsoft Learn transcript automatically when the Learn account and the exam-registration profile use the same email. So the "link" isn't a manual action — it's an email match. Check that the email on your Pearson VUE / exam registration matches your Microsoft Learn account email; if they differ, that's why it's not showing, and correcting the profile email (or merging profiles) is the fix.
2. If you sat it before July 1, 2025 (legacy delivery): those certs were issued via a different provider and do not flow into Microsoft Learn at all — there's no supported way to attach a legacy GitHub cert to a Learn transcript. Your proof in that case is the original certificate/credential from the issuing platform (e.g. the Credly badge, if one was issued).
3. On the Microsoft support lockout: account-access problems with Microsoft Learn / the support centre are a Microsoft-side issue, but for the GitHub-certification specifics, the GitHub certifications team (via https://support.github.com, or the certifications contact on the GitHub certifications site) can tell you which delivery partner your exam went through and what email it's tied to — which is the piece that determines whether case 1 or 2 applies to you.

So: first confirm your exam date relative to July 1, 2025. Post-that-date → it's an email-match issue on the Learn/Pearson side (fixable). Before → no Learn integration exists, and the original credential is what you use.
