Hi everyone,

I'm attempting to verify that I'm a student, but there is no upload link for my documents - only a camera, which isn't able to capture my transcript details as clearly as it should. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or ways to get someone to actually review my documentation, versus the automated system?

Hello! From the screenshot it is evident that this verification process asks you to provide the academic proof by taking a photo rather than providing you with the file upload option for this kind of proof.

In case the proof obtained via camera is not legible enough to provide the transcript information, do not submit this image since otherwise you will get another verification failure. One may try opening the transcript on a different device and taking a photo in good lighting conditions or consider another type of academic enrollment proof which gives the possibility to upload it.

However, if the verification process does not allow you to upload the image but only take a photo of it and in case you are unable to take a legible enough photo, the best thing to do would be to contact GitHub Education Support. Attach the screenshot and explain that camera-only capture is causing the verification problem in your case.

As far as the manual review is concerned, GitHub Education Support is the place where you should turn to solve your verification problem (although they will be able to decide if you can get it manually reviewed or not).

Thus far, none of the options allow for an upload of documentation. I've tried several of the acceptable verification methods, however even with taking a photo using a higher quality camera in better lighting conditions, nothing has worked.

The most troublesome issue is that I've attempted to contact Github Education Support, and continually received a notice saying that they no longer do manual reviews. I played around with the selections, cleared cache/cookies in case the webpage was holding on to previous attempts, but each time I received the same notification, that I needed to contact the community for assistance.

Yes, the problem was solved - I eventually opened the app on my phone, and took a picture using both my student ID (even though it wasn't dated, as the requirements suggested), sitting on top of my transcript that shows I am registered for classes this semester. Reaching out to GitHub Education Support was a dead end.

If the camera is the only option, try opening the verification page on your phone and capture the document in good lighting without glare. A current student ID, class schedule, or bonafide/enrollment letter may also be easier to verify than a transcript.

If it still doesn't work, contact GitHub Education Support and attach this screenshot, explaining that the form only provides camera capture and you can't submit a clear document. Don't post your personal documents publicly.

I had a similar issue with the camera-only verification. If your transcript isn’t readable through the camera, you could try displaying the document clearly on another screen and taking the photo from there, or use a clearer proof such as your school portal showing your name, school name, and current enrollment date.

If it still keeps getting rejected, I’d recommend contacting GitHub Education Support and asking whether they can review your verification issue or suggest another acceptable way to submit the document. Avoid editing the document itself, since that could cause problems with verification.
