GitHub account incorrectly flagged as spammy reinstatement ticket pending for over one month (#4641061) #207065
🏷️ Discussion TypeQuestion 💬 Feature/Topic AreaCode Search and Navigation BodyHello GitHub Community, I am posting here because my account reinstatement case has now been unresolved for more than one month, and I would like to hear from users who have experienced a similar manual-review delay. My GitHub account is: The account was incorrectly flagged as spammy and its public visibility was restricted on or around August 7, 2026. Public profile returns HTTP 404
The repositories themselves have not been deleted, and I can still access them while signed in. GitHub Support replied to my ticket on August 7 and explained that some account activity had been flagged by the abuse-detection system for manual review. Support asked me to explain how I use GitHub. I explained that this is a legitimate personal software engineering and research account. I use GitHub for my own systems-software projects, low-level tools, source control, development history, documentation, releases, issue tracking, benchmarks, and normal automated development/build workflows. I also made clear that I do not use GitHub for spam, unsolicited messaging, deceptive activity, account farming, or intentionally abusive automation. Since providing the requested information on August 7, I have received no further request for information and no reinstatement decision. I have followed up through the same existing ticket rather than opening duplicate reinstatement requests. As of September 7, 2026: The ticket remains open. The restriction remains active. There has been no substantive response from GitHub Support since August 7. I understand that GitHub Community moderators cannot directly review, escalate, or reinstate account-specific cases, and I am not asking the Community to bypass the Support process. I am posting because I would like to understand whether other legitimate developers are currently experiencing similarly long delays with abuse-detection/manual-review cases. In particular: If a GitHub Community team member is able to confirm only that ticket #4641061 remains in the appropriate review queue, that would also be useful. I understand that the Community itself cannot make the reinstatement decision. GitHub is my primary development workspace, so losing public visibility for more than a month has significantly disrupted my normal engineering workflow. I am continuing to keep the original Support ticket as the single authoritative reinstatement request and will provide any additional verification GitHub requests. Thank you. |

I haven't experienced this exact situation myself, but based on what you've described, it sounds like the issue is still entirely within GitHub Support's manual-review process rather than something that can be fixed through your account settings. Since you've already replied to the original ticket and have kept it as your single support request, I would avoid opening duplicate tickets. If anyone here has gone through a similar manual review recently, sharing how long it took and whether the account was restored through the original ticket would probably be the most useful information for you. I hope your account gets restored soon. |

Thanks for your input, @pradipNP. Just to clarify, I have absolutely not opened any duplicate tickets. I have only been replying and following up through the single, original ticket (#4641061) that was opened back on August 7, and I am just patiently waiting for their manual review now. Hopefully, someone who recently went through this can share their timeline so I can get a rough idea. Thanks again! |

There is also a possibility that those whose accounts have not been restored will not respond here. |
