Contribution graph missing commits that GitHub correctly attributes to my account

GitHub correctly attributes these commits to my user, they are on the repository's default branch, and the repository is not a fork. However, they are absent from my contribution graph.

This started after removing an email address. I re-added that address several weeks ago, but the graph has not recovered.

Two examples of commits that are attributed to my account but are not appearing correctly on my contribution graph are:

The two example commits satisfy the repository-side criteria that can be verified publicly. They are in danm7251/glow, which is public and not a fork; both are reachable from the default branch main; GitHub attributes both to danm7251; and their author email is the same Outlook address described in the report. Yet the authenticated contribution query for Jan 31–Feb 3 returns no commit contributions for this repository.

GitHub's documentation says adding the exact historical commit email back to the account should rebuild the graph automatically, and qualifying contributions normally appear within 24 hours. Since you re-added it weeks ago, this is beyond the documented delay. There is no user-facing reindex button.

I would update this report with the full two commit URLs, the UTC time the email was re-added and verified, and confirmation that the email remains attached to this account. Do not publish the email address itself—the commit metadata already exposes it. This now needs an account-side contribution-graph rebuild by GitHub rather than another Git rewrite.

@danm7251 did this ever resolve for you, or did you find anything that worked? I have the same failure and am trying to establish whether anyone has found a route to an actual fix.

Mine came from moving a work commit email from a second personal account to my main account (@Puneet-Bajaj-IITM) rather than removing and re-adding, but the symptom is identical: GitHub attributes the historical commits to me correctly, they sit on the default branch of a non-fork repository, and they are simply absent from the calendar. Commits made after the change register normally, so only the historical rebuild is missing.

@TongyiDai's reply above matches what I concluded independently, that this needs an account-side rebuild by GitHub and there is no user-facing reindex control. Two things I would add:

• If any of the affected commits are in an organization-owned repository, the contribution criteria also require that you are a collaborator on the repository or a member of the organization that owns it. If the automatic rebuild happened to run before that was true, those commits get skipped and nothing re-triggers a second pass. It is worth checking the order in which your email re-add and any org or collaborator access actually landed.
• The trigger-commit trick that some people report, pushing a new commit to force a re-walk, appears to work only for repositories the indexer already considers eligible for your account. See Request for contribution graph re-indexing after email re-linking (missing Organization contributions) #207886, where it restored roughly 120 squares for personal repos but did nothing at all for org repos.

Did a support ticket get anywhere for you? Mine (#4756514) was closed with the standard pointer to Community Discussions, Docs and Skills, none of which can perform a rebuild. I have reopened it, noting that GitHub's own troubleshooting page directs this exact case to Support after the 24 hour window has passed. I have also flagged this thread and #207886 on the open profile incident, #203416, which lists contribution graphs not accurately reflecting commits among its symptoms.
