I am requesting a manual rebuild/re-indexing of my profile contribution graph after unlinking and re-linking my primary email address, as well as transferring a repository back to my main account.

Background:

1. I unlinked my primary email address (Gmail A) from my main GitHub account (Account A) and temporarily added it to a second account (Account B).
2. After realizing this disassociated my contribution graph on Account A, I reverted the changes:
   - unlinked Gmail A from Account B
   - added it back to Account A
   - verified it, and set it as primary again.
3. I also transferred a repository from Account A to Account B, and recently transferred it back from Account B to Account A.

Current Situation & What Works:

• My past commits in the repository logs correctly display my avatar and profile name for Account A.
• git log --format="%an <%ae>" confirms my commits were made with the exact primary email now verified on Account A.
• For most of my personal repositories, making a new trigger commit forced the indexer to recalculate and restored around 120 contribution squares on my profile.

The Issue:

• Past contributions (commits) made to Organization repositories (both private or public repos in orgs I own and orgs where I am a member/collaborator) are still completely missing from my contribution graph.
• Past contributions for the transferred repository (transferred back to Account A) and past contributions in repositories that don't belong to me (where I'm just a collaborator) are also missing from my contribution graph, even after pushing a new trigger commit to the default branch.
• While my avatar appears next to every commit in the commit histories on default branches ( main/ master), those past commits are not reflected in my yearly contribution count or graph.

Troubleshooting Already Attempted:

• Verified primary email is verified on Account A.
• Confirmed commits are merged into default branches.
• Toggled the "Include private contributions on my profile" setting OFF and ON to purge the profile cache.
• Made trigger commits on affected repositories.
• Contacted GitHub Support, but my ticket was closed pointing to self-service community resources.

Could a GitHub staff member or moderator please trigger a manual re-indexing / contribution graph rebuild for my account?

@Sofi-DCM did this ever get resolved for you, or did you find anything that worked? Your case matches mine almost exactly, right down to the support ticket being closed with a pointer to self-service resources.

My situation: in early September 2026 I moved my work commit email from a second personal account to my main one (@Puneet-Bajaj-IITM). Attribution updated — my avatar and username appear on the historical commits — but the calendar was never rebuilt for anything predating the move. The missing commits are in an organization-owned private repository where I am an org Owner, which lines up with your observation that org repositories are the stubborn case while personal repositories recovered after a trigger commit.

Two details worth comparing:

• The trigger-commit workaround that restored around 120 squares for your personal repos did nothing for your org repos. I see the same split: new commits after the email change register fine, historical ones do not. That suggests the indexer only re-walks repositories it already considers eligible for your account, and never re-evaluates eligibility for the ones it previously skipped.
• My working theory for why org repos specifically fail: the contribution criteria require that you are a collaborator on the repository or a member of the organization that owns it. If the automatic rebuild ran at a moment when that was not yet true, those commits get skipped and nothing ever re-triggers a second pass. In your case the repository transfers between accounts could have produced the same ordering problem.

Did you get a rebuild done in the end, either by reopening the ticket or through some other route? I reopened mine (#4756514), pointing out that GitHub's own troubleshooting documentation directs this exact case to Support and that there is no user-facing reindex control, so a self-service closure is not actionable. I have also referenced your report on the open profile incident, #203416, which lists contribution graphs not accurately reflecting commits among its symptoms.

Linking #207875 as well, which is a third report of the same failure, in case it helps to have these connected for whoever triages the Profile label.

Hi! No, I haven't found a resolution yet, and I haven't received help from support either.

I'm still waiting, but after reading the incident report (#203416) from the Community Manager, I suppose all we can do is wait for GitHub to fix this backend issue.
In the meantime, I'd suggest avoiding any "unusual" actions like transferring repositories, modifying profile settings, or changing emails. All we can really do for now is continue with our normal contribution and development activity in our repos and organizations.
