Hi everyone,

Hello team, I would like to obtain a free domain from 'name.com' using the 'GitHub Student Developer Pack'. However, even after selecting a domain priced at zero (0) and logging in, I am unable to claim it for free in the subsequent step.

This usually happens for a few specific reasons when redeeming the Name.com offer through the GitHub Student Developer Pack:

1. Wrong redemption flow: You can't just go straight to Name.com, add a domain, and check out.
   You have to initiate the process directly from the GitHub Student Developer Pack offers page. Clicking the Name.com claim button from there authenticates your GitHub account and links the unique student discount token to your session.

2. Domain TLD eligibility & premium pricing: The free domain offer only applies to specific top-level domains (TLDs)—typically .me, .tech, .live, or .ninja. While .live is usually included (as seen in your cart), certain domain names are flagged as "premium" by the registry, which can mean the student promo code only covers a portion of the cost instead of making it completely free. Try searching for a slightly different name to see if it drops to zero.

3. Unintended cart add-ons: Double-check that no paid extras (like Domain Safe Pro, paid email hosting, or privacy upgrades) got auto-added or selected during the setup steps.

Steps to fix it:
Clear your Name.com shopping cart completely and log out.
Go back to your GitHub Student Developer Pack dashboard.
Find the Name.com offer card, click the claim/redemption button, and let it redirect you back to Name.com while logged in.
Search for your domain again through that freshly authorized session.

If it still prompts for payment after using the direct pack link, reach out to Name.com customer support directly with a screenshot—their team is usually pretty fast at manually applying the student voucher to your account.
