Community Pixel Art
The Pixel Art Community is a space where users of DotArt can share, explore, and learn pixel artwork created with the application.
DotArt uses a lightweight JSON-based format that allows pixel art creations to be easily shared between users.
Users can share their artwork by exporting their project file and sending it to other users.
Supported sharing methods include:
- JSON project files
- Online repositories
- Community forums
- Social media platforms
When another user imports the JSON file into DotArt, the artwork will load with the correct:
- canvas size
- color palette
- pixel layout
To import artwork created by other users:
- Download the JSON file.
- Open DotArt.
- Use the import option inside the application.
- Select the JSON file.
The artwork will automatically load into the editor.
To maintain a positive and respectful community, please follow these guidelines when sharing pixel art.
- Respect other artists and their work.
- Do not redistribute artwork without permission.
- Give credit to the original creator when sharing.
- Avoid uploading inappropriate or offensive content.
Common canvas sizes used by the community include:

|---|---|
| 16×16 | Small icons and simple sprites |
| 32×32 | Game sprites |
| 64×64 | Detailed pixel artwork |
| 128×128 | Large illustrations |

- 32 colors
Using limited palettes helps maintain a clean and consistent style.
New users can improve their pixel art skills by practicing:

Studying classic pixel art from retro games can also help develop good techniques.
Artists are encouraged to share:

Community artwork helps expand the creative possibilities of DotArt and supports collaboration between users.
Planned improvements for the community ecosystem may include:
- shared pixel art libraries
- curated community artwork
- collaborative pixel art projects
- asset packs for games and creative projects
