Pocket for Mac 1.2.3

Know when there's a new Pocket.

  • Check for Updates. Choose Check for Updates… from the Pocket menu, the ⋯ menu in the menu bar panel, or Settings → About. If there's a newer version, Download gets it in one click.
  • About Pocket. The standard Mac About window shows your version, with links to pocketleft.app and the source code.
  • A clearer install. The download opens to a Pocket window that shows exactly where to drag the app.

Pocket asks GitHub for the latest release only when you click Check for Updates, never in the background. Nothing about your money is sent.

This release replaces 1.3.0, which had the same features under a different number.

Signed and notarized for macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel.

Everything in reach. The things Pocket could already do are now where you'd look for them.

  • Got it, right there. Payments you're waiting for sit in Overview with Got it and Skip buttons. Mark money someone already owes you as still waiting; your balance only moves once it arrives.
  • Buttons from what you buy. Choose Save as Button after adding an entry. The new Quick Add menu gives ⌘1 to ⌘9 on every page of the window.
  • Restore a daily backup. Settings → Daily backups restores any of the last seven days. A file Pocket can't open is kept, never overwritten.

Also: a ⋯ button on every planned payment in Plan (skip, pause, stop), income by category in Categories, no instant reminder for payments added after their reminder time, and sidebar focus that follows the page you're on.

Signed and notarized for macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel.

Use Pocket on your phone too (optional)

Pocket still works entirely on your Mac, with no account. Now you can also connect it to a server, so the Pocket web app on your phone or another computer shows the same money.

  • Your own server. Run Pocket on a free Supabase project that only you can read. In Settings → Sync → Connect…, paste its address and key, then click Set Up This Server. Everything already on your Mac moves over. See SELF-HOSTING.md.
  • Pair your phone from Settings → Sync → Pair…. The link it shows opens the web app ready to go.
  • Works offline. Your Mac keeps a full copy. Changes made offline go out in order when you're back, and a request that might already have arrived waits for you to check it, so nothing is added twice.

A cleaner Pocket

  • Type the amount first: a big amount field, then what it was for. Date, category and repeat open in a proper sheet.
  • Categories have their own colors. Red now only means "below zero".
  • The menu bar panel is simpler, with a one-line notice when payments are waiting for you.
  • Day totals in History, a native sidebar, and tidier Plan, Insights and Settings.

Requires macOS 14 or later. Apple Silicon and Intel.
