v5.0.0 - Cool Friends
v5.0.0 - Cool Friends - 2026-08-12
v5.0.0 is the first release from the transferred orneryd/ui-grid repository. It replaces the legacy AngularJS code on main with the modern web suite previously developed in orneryd/uiGrid. The final legacy release remains available as v4.12.7, and its source is preserved on the angular-1-archive branch.
Breaking
- Modern web suite replaces the AngularJS package line —
mainnow contains the framework-neutral TypeScript core, Vanilla Web Component, React wrapper, and Angular wrapper. Applications using the legacy AngularJS grid must remain onv4.12.7or migrate to the modern package APIs. - Web packages move to major version 5 —
@ornery/ui-grid,@ornery/ui-grid-core,@ornery/ui-grid-react, and@ornery/ui-grid-vanillaare released together at5.0.0. Internal package dependencies are synchronized to the same version during publishing. - Rust and native development moved to
orneryd/uiGrid— Rust crates, the WASM implementation, egui, C/C++, and native adapters are no longer built or documented in this repository. Their source, releases, and documentation continue in the Rust project.
Added
- Modern framework packages — added the TypeScript core,
<ui-grid-element>Vanilla renderer, React portal wrapper, and Angular template wrapper as the supported web delivery targets. - Published WASM runtime dependency — the web suite now consumes the pinned public
@ornery/ui-grid-wasm@1.0.8package produced byorneryd/uiGrid. A Node-only materialization step copies its bundler and browser exports into the existing runtime paths without requiring Rust, Cargo, orwasm-pack. - Web-focused automation — added independent Angular, React, and Vanilla CI workflows; GitHub Pages deployment for the demo and documentation site; and npm publishing workflows for each web package.
- Coordinated suite publishing — pushing a
v*tag resolves the public version, synchronizes all manifests and lockfiles, and publishes in dependency order: Core → Vanilla → React and Angular. Registry availability checks and already-published guards make retries safe.
Changed
- Repository ownership and URLs — source, badges, documentation links, CI, Pages, and npm metadata now target
orneryd/ui-grid. The live documentation site is available at https://orneryd.github.io/ui-grid/. - Web-only documentation — removed Rust-, egui-, C ABI-, and LVGL-specific guides and demo routes. Web documentation links to
orneryd/uiGridfor implementation and native-adapter details. - Node/npm release toolchain — CI and publishing use Node 26.4.0 and npm 11.17.0. Local development requires a Node version supported by Angular 22; Node 22.23.2 or newer is recommended.
- Public npm resolution — all lockfiles resolve exclusively through
registry.npmjs.org, and repository npm configuration prevents private corporate registry URLs from leaking into committed lockfiles.NPM_TOKENis used only by publish steps; public installs require no credentials. - Release-safe package metadata — version synchronization now updates every web manifest, lockfile, internal dependency, and peer dependency before packages are built, ensuring generated Angular metadata and published tarballs reference the matching
5.0.0suite.
Security
- Dependency advisory cleanup — refreshed root and package-local lockfiles to resolve all reported Dependabot advisories, including Angular SSR, Immutable.js, PostCSS, Vite,
ws,undici, Hono,@hono/node-server,tar,brace-expansion,fast-uri, andip-addressfindings. - Patched build tooling — package-level overrides pin esbuild
0.28.1, while root overrides pin patched releases of esbuild, Vite, undici, Babel, and Piscina. All four independently audited lockfiles report zero known vulnerabilities at release time.
Fixed
- GitHub Pages deployment — configured Pages to deploy from GitHub Actions with the
/ui-grid/base path and the standardgithub-pagesenvironment. - Release build ordering — publishing jobs wait for required internal packages to appear on npm before building dependents, preventing React, Vanilla, or Angular releases from resolving stale package versions.
