First release of codex-local-mcp: an MCP server that lets any LLM drive the local Codex CLI in a sandboxed workspace.

Tools

• codex_run runs any task through Codex in an isolated workspace and returns its output plus the files it created.
• codex_generate_image generates images with Codex's built-in image tool. Your existing codex login is enough; no image API key is needed. It supports size, quality and count, reports the actual dimensions of each image, and opens results in your default viewer.
• codex_read_artifact reads a file back out of a workspace.

Workspace files are also served as MCP resources, so results can link to full-resolution files instead of embedding them.

Security

The server runs code on your machine, so read SECURITY.md before using it. This release includes fixes from an external code review, covering workspace confinement through symlinks and junctions, executable hijacking via the working directory, server crashes on helper launch failures, and a file-system race between check and read.
