Version 1.5.1
This version fixes a use-after-free oversight when reading syntax definitions from ~/.breadtextsyntax. This bug seems to only affect the end-user on macOS 26; I have not experienced the bug on Linux or earlier versions of macOS. I guess I've been lucky until now.
Version 1.5.0
Changes in this release:
- Added file manipulation functions to BreadText Scripting Language
- Added headless mode
- Press Y to select until end of word
- Press shift + Y to select until beginning of word
- Display warning when file or clipboard contains non-ASCII characters
- Fixed various bugs
Version 1.4.0
Another big update! Changes in this release:
- BreadText Scripting Language is 10+ times faster thanks to improved parsing and garbage collection
- UI colors are customizable
- Press 9 or 0 to move to beginning/end of word
- Press < or > to move to previous/next word
- Improved indentation when pasting multiple lines
- Improved cursor behavior for marks and window resize
Version 1.3.0
Changes in this release:
- Optimize clipboard operations
- Allow cursor movement in command entry mode
- Press shift + tab in command entry mode to paste from clipboard
- Press 7 or & to merge lines
- Add bash syntax highlighting
- Fix BTSL bug pertaining to key bindings
Version 1.2.0
This is a REALLY big update. The main feature is BreadText Scripting Language, which allows you to add custom controls and commands.
This version also includes various bug fixes for the text editor.
BTSL doesn't have a lot of features right now, and it's not particularly fast. However, I am planning to make BTSL more powerful in the future. All good things have to start somewhere. ;-)
Version 1.1.0
Changes in this release:
- Systematic integration tests to ensure operational fidelity
- Replace mode (shift + T) to type over existing characters
- Jump to matching delimiter (8)
- Swap selection with clipboard (shift + 8)
- Press comma in highlight mode to enter command mode
shouldUseXclipconfiguration variable
Enjoy!
Initial Release
After adding syntax highlighting and regex search, I feel as though BreadText is ready for an official release. I will continue to update it as I find bugs and think of features.
