Important

There is currently no support for automatic staging or canary builds.

🚀 Prepare for Release

  1. Update the version field in your package.json to the desired release version. This version will be used for tagging and publishing the release.

🧪 Test the Release

  1. Complete the steps in Prepare for Release (inside your pr/branch).

  2. Build the application using:

    yarn make
  3. Locate the installer at:

    <project-root>/out/prod/make/

    Example: out/prod/make/squirrel.windows/x64/OWN3D Pro Desktop-2.5.3 Setup.exe

  4. Install the .exe file.

  5. Use start-develop.bat to test the release against specific frontend branches:

    @echo off
    cd %LOCALAPPDATA%/own3d_desktop
    .\own3d-desktop.exe -- --hostname="https://develop--pro-frontend.netlify.app/"

  6. Perform your tests.

  7. To roll back, reinstall any previous .exe (e.g., from the official release).

📦 Release on Main Branch

⚠️ Important: Only release from the main branch!

  1. Ensure the version is correct by following Prepare for Release (inside main branch).
  2. Trigger the Release app workflow manually on the main branch.
  3. Wait for the GitHub Actions workflow to complete. This will automatically create a Git tag and GitHub release.
  4. Download the generated artifacts, sign them, and re-upload to the release.
  5. Publish the draft release (make it public).
