Upgrade and usage of ownCloud 6 instance is not possible when eaccelerator is active

When I try to Upgrade from 5.0.13 to 6.0 accoring your manual (http://doc.owncloud.org/server/5.0/admin_manual/maintenance/update.html) with MySQL as persistence layer, the installation fails. The screen shows the upgrade Screen showing "Aktualisiere ownCloud auf Version 6. Die könnte eine Weile dauern". In addition, a red marker says "Bitte laden Sie diese Seite neu". Nothing more happens. No errors, no "Wartungsmodus eingeschaltet", no "Datenbank aktualisiert" etc. After 5 Minutes of waiting, I reloaded the page. After that, my installation is broken, getting a blank page in the browser. I follwed strictly the upgrade instructions.

Any idea?

Can you check if you use 6.0.0a? 6.0.0 had migration problems unfortunately

Tried it also with 6.00a. Same problem. The database schema will not be changed and I do have no error logs in the own cloud.log...

Update still freezes on the update page. The following errors occur in the owncloud.log during update:

Database schema won´t be changed, it simply hangs on the update screen just saying in red: "Please reload page".

The Update from 5.0.13 to 5.0.14a works perfectly without the mentioned errors above.

I tried to upgrade from 5.0.14a to 6.0.0a using the ownCloud Updater. Upgrade also fails with the following message in the own cloud.log:

Permission for the update backup folder was explicitly set to 777.

As I have seen in the repos, there are several other posts dealing with migration problems from version 5 to 6. Are there any news? It would be great if I could use the new version 6. Sadly, I just can contribute with the log messages I posted above.

Seems like there are a lot of people with exact the same problem: during update, the own cloud screen says: "Please reload page". After that, only a blanc screen is shown. Nothing more happens. Some statements say that you have to set eaccelerator.enable = 0 in php.ini. Otherwise, the Update won´t work:

In addition, you can read: "And even after successfull upgrade, OC 6.0.0a works only with eaccelerator = 0, setting it back to 1 leads to a "page not found" or to a blank screen. So it very much seems like an OC bug handling the php accelerator."

That did the trick. After setting eaccelerator.enable = 0 in php.ini, the upgrade works fine for me! Therfore, seems like there is a bug dealing with the accelerator...

I tried to enable accelerator after the successful upgrade, but ownCloud 6 does not work when eaccelerator is enabled. With version 5, there where no issues with that. The Problem is that the fronted is more than slow when eaccelerator is disabled. Are there some news?

Any idea how eaccelerator works? Is it the same as mod_pagespeed?

We disabled mod_pagespeed because it injects inline javascript, which we disallow due to security reasons

It's actually very similar to APC. No idea why it is not working.

Seems like PHP optimizers like Memcached, XCache and PHP eAccelerator are used to optimize php scripts by caching them in compiled state so that they do not need to be interpreted twice. I am not shure but looks for me for something different.
