Inspector 0.6.3
Inspector 0.6.3 fixes a crash at launch on some devices.
- On some devices Inspector closed the moment it opened, while it was drawing the apps' icons (reported on iOS 18 with RootHide). iOS draws those icons with the graphics processor, and Inspector did not ask for access to it. It now asks for the same graphics access as the other OwnGoal apps.
- Every package is now checked for that access before it is published, so a build without it is not released.
Choose iphoneos-arm64e for roothide or iphoneos-arm64 for rootless (/var/jb) firmware. SHA-256 checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.
Inspector 0.6.2
Inspector 0.6.2 changes nothing you can see. It is the first release checked to open on the oldest system it supports before it is published.
- Every package is now examined before release for anything newer than iOS 13 that the app, the service or the command-line tool needs at launch. An app built with newer tools can ask the system for something an older iOS does not have, and then it closes the moment you open it, with no message. A build that does this is no longer published.
Choose iphoneos-arm64e for roothide or iphoneos-arm64 for rootless (/var/jb) firmware. SHA-256 checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.
Inspector 0.6.1
Inspector 0.6.1 runs the process list from edge to edge, keeps its column headings in sight, and moves its count up to the title.
- The process list drops its inset cards. Each row now runs the full width of the screen, so the columns get the room the card margins used to take.
- The column headings stay pinned at the top while the list scrolls, so every figure stays under the heading that names it, however far down you are.
- "120 processes · Paused" moved from above the columns to under the title in the navigation bar, and the list starts one line higher. On iOS 26 it is the bar's own subtitle; on earlier systems a two-line title looks and reads the same.
- At the accessibility text sizes, where rows stack their figures and have no columns, the heading row is hidden.
Choose iphoneos-arm64e for roothide or iphoneos-arm64 for rootless (/var/jb) firmware. SHA-256 checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.
Inspector 0.6.0
Inspector 0.6.0 redraws the process list as columns you can scan at a glance, and lets you choose how often it refreshes.
- The process list is a table now. Each row is one line: the icon and name, then PID, CPU, memory and threads, each right-aligned in its own column under a heading. The figures line up from the first row to the last, so a process out of step with the rest stands out. Tap a heading to sort by that column; the active one is tinted and carries an arrow. Threads is a new sort order to match. (#8)
- CPU turns orange from half a core and red from nine tenths, so a process spinning a core is visible without reading a single number. Idle processes stay gray. (#8)
- Where the screen is narrow, the threads column goes first, then PID; CPU always stays. At the accessibility text sizes each row stacks its figures under the name instead. The user name left the row to make room; it is still in the process details, and VoiceOver still reads it on the row. (#8)
- The Sort and Filter menu has a Refresh Interval: 1, 2, 5 or 10 seconds. Five stays the default, the choice is remembered, and a new one takes effect at once rather than after the wait already under way. CPU use is measured over the time that actually passed, so every pace reads correctly. (#4)
- The live-updates button no longer changes width when it switches between live and paused, so the Sort and Filter button beside it stays still. (#5)
- Reopening the app no longer flashes "Connecting to the inspector service…" for a split second. The message appears only when connecting takes longer than three quarters of a second, and then stays long enough to read. The process detail lists got the same treatment for their spinner. (#7)
- The credit line at the foot of the process list sits evenly between the last row and the end of the list, and grows with the text size instead of spilling out of a fixed height. (#6)
Choose iphoneos-arm64e for roothide or iphoneos-arm64 for rootless (/var/jb) firmware. SHA-256 checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.
Inspector 0.5.9
Inspector 0.5.9 is a VoiceOver release: every icon-only button has a name, a row reads as one sentence instead of four fragments, and state that was only drawn on screen is now spoken.
- The buttons drawn as a single glyph were read by the name of the glyph. The menu button on a process and on the record list is now "More Options", the one on the process list is "Sort and Filter", and each says that a tap opens a menu.
- The live-updates button said "Pause Live Updates" even while updates were already paused. It now says "Resume Live Updates" while paused, so its name says what a tap does next.
- A process row, a detail row, a row of the record sheet and a row of the detail table were each read a piece at a time, the separators between the pieces included, and the figures arrived without saying what they counted. Each of those rows is now one stop that names every value it carries.
- A sortable column heading was read by the abbreviation it is squeezed down to — "Pri", "FD", "Refs". It now reads the full name of the sort order and says whether the list is sorted up or down, and Voice Control still answers to the abbreviation printed on screen.
- A screen that is nothing but a spinner read as an empty table. Loading and exporting now say so out loud.
- On the screen that says the inspector is unavailable, the picture beside the title is skipped as decoration and the title is a heading, so VoiceOver can jump straight to it.
- On iOS 13, where a chosen menu item is marked with a checkmark in its title, that checkmark was read as a stray character. The item now says it is selected.
- Rows you touch and hold to copy, rows that open onto the full record, and the credit line at the foot of the process list now say what they do.
- A new build check refuses a label that UIKit would never read out, so a row cannot quietly lose its name again. Nothing visual moved in this release: no layout, type size, color or touch target changed.
Choose iphoneos-arm64e for roothide or iphoneos-arm64 for rootless (/var/jb) firmware. SHA-256 checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.
