Income is calculated based on amount of population and the quality of the houses. Higher quality houses generate more income. Higher quality houses can also house more people (?). Quality of buildings is upgradeable:
- Industry, shops and farms are always upgradeable for an x amount of money.
- Houses are only upgradeable based on the amount of points for industry/shops/farms (see below). When the final house level is reached, the player can choose to buy self-sustainment expansions (solar panel, mini-farm, home-chinema) for the house. This fully upgraded and expanded house will be called a 'Small World House'.
Upgrade/point system for industry/shops/farms: The game has a technology level, which is determined by the sum of all industry, shops and farm building levels. Houses can be upgraded when this technology level has reached a certain amount. For instance: a house can be upgraded to level 2 if technology level is 5. Houses can be upgraded to level 3 if technology level is 10. etc.
