Version 1.2.1 "Slim Jims" of akernel.

  • x86-64 Limine ISO with BIOS and UEFI boot support.
  • Built in MSYS2 UCRT64 with GCC 15.2.0 (x86_64-elf) and Binutils 2.45.
  • BIOS boot-tested in QEMU 11.1.1; the kernel reached its halt loop with no guest errors.
  • This is a kernel scaffold, not an installer or complete operating system. Test only as virtual optical media in a disposable VM; do not write it to a physical disk.

@oysterzarskyy oysterzarskyy released this 26 Oct 02:04

Experimental prerelease — not a stable release. Based on akernel 1.2.1 "Slim Jims".

  • Adds colored framebuffer ASCII/text output.
  • Adds AASH 0.1, an experimental, freestanding C interpreter for boot-embedded scripts. Commands: echo, color, setup, version, and help.
  • The setup command is a non-destructive preflight screen only. It does not install an OS or write to disk.
  • AASH is Bash-like in spirit but is not Bash/Zsh/Fish-compatible. Scripts are compiled into the kernel; there is no interactive input, keyboard driver, filesystem, or external script loader yet.
  • BIOS boot-tested in QEMU 11.1.1; the kernel reached its halt loop with no guest errors. UEFI boot has not been tested for this nightly.

Boot only as virtual optical media in a disposable VM. Do not attach a physical disk or use this image as an installer. Verify the ISO and ZIP with SHA256SUMS.txt.
