Fewer failed launches, based on your diagnostic reports. Thank you to everyone sharing them!

  • Fixed: launches failing with HTTP 403 ("session limit per device"). A previous session could stay open on NVIDIA's side and block new ones. Kasumi now finds these leftover sessions, closes them, waits until NVIDIA frees the slot and launches
  • Fixed: free-tier queues on Server: Auto could freeze at one place for two minutes and then be dropped ("queue abandoned"). When NVIDIA's own choice of server is also the fastest, Kasumi now goes through NVIDIA's normal address, which moves the queue along; Auto still steps in when another server is clearly faster, like on a phone hotspot
  • Clearer message when NVIDIA says an account can't stream from where it is ("entitlement failure"), for example in countries served by a local GeForce NOW partner
  • Fixed: after being refused, retrying quickly made NVIDIA rate limit the console (HTTP 429). Kasumi now pauses launches for a minute and says so
  • Clearer launch errors: "limited mode" (an NVIDIA account restriction), no free rigs, and a session running on another device are explained in plain words
  • After a clearly choppy session, Kasumi suggests the Weak / hotspot connection type
  • The diagnostic log no longer stops after 6000 lines: it rolls over, so a long session keeps its most recent part for reports
  • Diagnostic reports only include Kasumi's own crash dumps, and a finished session's stats are sent even if you close Kasumi right away

Clearer failures while waiting in the queue.

  • Fixed: when NVIDIA's servers started answering "busy" (HTTP 503) during the queue, Kasumi kept retrying forever without saying what was wrong. After 30 seconds of errors it now tells you the session stopped, with NVIDIA's reason, and A tries again
  • If that session was on the server Auto picked, the retry goes through NVIDIA's own choice instead, in case that server is the problem
  • Share diagnostics: a report is now sent for any session that fails, including in the queue and while the rig is being set up (it used to cover only a few cases)
  • The diagnostic log now records NVIDIA's reason for these errors once, instead of the same line every 2 seconds

Help make Kasumi smoother and more reliable.

  • New: after updating, Kasumi asks once: "Help improve Kasumi?" If you choose Share, it sends:
    • Problem reports: the log, on its own when something goes wrong (a crash, freeze, failed launch or a stream that can't reconnect), at most once per run and never during a game
    • Performance stats: after each session, a few anonymous numbers like ping, bitrate, frame rate, lost frames and reconnects. No log text and no addresses. These show which changes make streaming better for everyone
  • If you choose No thanks, nothing is sent. Change either one anytime in Settings > System
  • New: Settings > System > Send diagnostic report sends a report right now and shows a short code (like K7F-2QX) to mention in your bug report or message
  • Reports never include your login; public IP addresses are shortened and a random install ID (not linked to your NVIDIA account) tells consoles apart. Reports are deleted after 30 days, stats after 90
  • Kasumi now keeps the previous run's log (kasumi-diagnostic-previous.txt), so the log from a crash or freeze is no longer lost

Fixes Server: Auto picking a far-away server.

  • Fixed: on Auto, Kasumi could pick a server on another continent (like Texas from Europe), doubling the ping. Its measurement timed a network step the 3DS reports too early, so the numbers were noise. It now times real requests to each server, only measures the servers on your continent, and keeps NVIDIA's own choice unless another server is clearly faster
  • Old measurements are thrown away, so the first launch after updating measures again (a few seconds)

Smarter reconnects when Wi-Fi drops, including with the lid closed.

  • Fixed: the 3DS turns Wi-Fi off a couple of seconds after the lid closes, even while Kasumi keeps it awake. Kasumi then used up all three reconnect attempts in a few seconds on "Couldn't resolve host name" and showed an error. It now waits: while the lid is shut it shows "Paused with the lid closed", and after opening it waits for Wi-Fi to come back (up to 30 s) before reconnecting with all three attempts
  • The same wait applies when Wi-Fi drops mid-game, for example out of range of the router
  • Experiment: when Wi-Fi goes off with the lid shut, Kasumi asks the system to turn it back on (like the HOME Menu's wireless switch). If that works, the stream stays connected through the pause
  • The "Welcome back" card only says "still connected" when the connection really survived

Close the lid mid-game without losing your session.

  • New: closing the lid now pauses instead of sleeping. The screens turn off and the sound and controls are held, but Kasumi stays connected, so opening the lid puts you straight back in with no reconnect. A short "Welcome back" card shows how long you were away
  • Settings > Closing the lid has three choices: Pause (new default), Sleep (saves the most battery, reconnects on opening) and Keep playing (screens off, game and sound keep running)
  • Why: sleeping dropped the connection, and after reconnecting NVIDIA could end the session a few minutes later
  • Pause keeps Wi-Fi on, so a long pause uses more battery than Sleep

Clearer reconnects when a stream is interrupted.

  • Fixed: Kasumi could think it had been away for minutes after a short HOME visit, because it compared against an older pause, and reconnect when it didn't need to. Only a pause during the current stream counts now
  • Fixed: when NVIDIA has already ended the session on its side, Kasumi no longer retries three times with "Invalid WebSocket upgrade HTTP=404". It says the session was ended and A starts the game again
  • The diagnostic log now records what paused the app mid-game (sleep or HOME/system screen) and whether the lid read as closed, to track down unexpected interruptions
  • Includes the beta.6 fix for the CIA freezing at stream start

Fixes a crash when searching.

  • Fixed: pressing Search in the library crashed the installed CIA. The on-screen keyboard shows a copy of the screen behind it, and the CIA was not allowed to read the screen's memory; it now is (read-only)
  • Includes the beta.11 cover art fixes

Clean cover art in the library.

  • Fixed: after playing, some covers in the library could show up broken, with blocks of the picture missing. Leftover data from the video buffers could be written over a cover as it loaded; Kasumi now clears it out first
  • Covers from a download that was cut off are no longer saved to the SD card, and a cover that failed to load is tried again after a few seconds
  • The cover cache is cleared once on the first start of this version, so any broken cover already saved is downloaded again

Faster reconnects and a live ping reading.

  • Faster reconnects: Kasumi now signs back in to the same session as the same client, so NVIDIA can hand the stream straight back. If NVIDIA stays silent it tries again after 12 s instead of 30 s
  • Live ping: PING MS in the stream stats used to be measured once while connecting and then never change. It now updates every 2 seconds
  • The 3DS always turns Wi-Fi off when the lid closes (the system refuses to keep it on), so closing the lid mid-game still means a reconnect on opening; Kasumi waits for Wi-Fi and then reconnects on its own
