🚀 Overview

First public release of IoT-Postbox, evolved from the original iot_button project.
This version introduces a custom PCB based on the ESP-12 (ESP8266) module, designed for mailbox applications.
The device uses switch sensors to trigger power-on when mail is delivered, allowing the MCU to wake up, process the event, and publish a real-time notification via MQTT.
Device configuration and monitoring are available through a modern Angular web interface thanks to the WebConfigServer library.

🛠️ Hardware

  • IoT-Postbox board pcb_desings/iot-postbox/

    • ESP-12F or ESP-07S as main MCU.
    • Battery charger (TP4056) and LDO regulator (MCP1700 or ME6211) for battery charging and power management.
    • Two switch sensor inputs (J1, J2) to detect mailbox events.
    • Wake-up logic: Switches trigger the enable pin, GPIO14 keeps the MCU awake until the firmware cycle completes and MQTT notification is sent.
    • UART header for programming/debugging.
  • TTL to USB Adapter board pcb_desings/ttl_to_usb_adapter/

    • Designed for convenient programming and debugging of the IoT-Postbox PCB.
    • Ensures proper wake-up and flashing of the ESP-12 via UART header.

💾 Firmware

  • Firmware for ESP8266 (ESP-12), with support for ESP32 and generic dev boards in earlier stages.
  • Real-time mail detection and MQTT notification.
  • Angular web application (Bootstrap, Nebular UI) for device configuration and data visualization.
  • WebSockets integration for live dashboard updates.
  • File backup/restore management and dynamic configuration via web interface.
  • OTA updates, FTP server, AP+STA WiFi modes, mDNS, NTP, NAT features.
  • DeepSleep and LightSleep support, power management, and hardware interrupts.
  • Gzipped webapp assets for efficient storage and serving.
  • Modularized codebase with WebConfigServer, WrapperOTA, and WrapperWebSockets classes.
