FloppyBootCD v1.1.1 — floppy-disk app icon

A small visual upgrade: every prebuilt now ships with a proper floppy-disk app icon, integrated into:

  • The macOS .app bundle (Finder, Dock, Cmd-Tab, About)
  • The Windows .exe (Explorer, taskbar, Alt-Tab)
  • The Linux .desktop entry (icon.png in the bundle)
  • The Qt main window itself (QApplication.setWindowIcon) so every window/dialog inherits it

The icon is a pixel-art 3.5" floppy disk with red italic wordmark FloppyCD on the label and a boot disc builder subtitle — designed off the same 64×64 grid and crisp-edge style as PaqPlace's floppy-disk icon, used as a visual reference for the floppy disk shape and proportions.

What's in the bundle

floppybootcd/resources/ ships:

  • icon.svg — canonical vector source (64×64 viewBox)
  • icon.png — 512×512 raster used at runtime by Qt
  • icon.ico — Windows multi-resolution (16/24/32/48/64/128/256)
  • icon.icns — macOS iconset (16/32/64/128/256/512/1024 + retina)

PyInstaller picks the right one per platform via --icon. At runtime, floppybootcd/app.py loads icon.png via importlib.resources and calls QApplication.setWindowIcon().

Download

Same six artifacts as v1.1.0, now with the icon:

Platform File
macOS (Apple Silicon) floppybootcd-1.1.1-macos-arm64.zip
macOS (Intel) floppybootcd-1.1.1-macos-x86_64.zip
Windows (x86_64) floppybootcd-1.1.1-windows-x86_64.zip
Windows (ARM64) floppybootcd-1.1.1-windows-arm64.zip
Linux (x86_64) floppybootcd-1.1.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
Linux (ARM64 / Raspberry Pi 3-5) floppybootcd-1.1.1-linux-arm64.tar.gz

Or upgrade in place (uv): uv tool upgrade floppybootcd.

Changes

  • New floppy-disk icon shipped in floppybootcd/resources/
  • app.py: QApplication.setWindowIcon(QIcon(icon.png))
  • release.yml: --icon flag per platform; switched from --collect-submodules to --collect-all floppybootcd so package data ships in the PyInstaller bundle

No functional changes from v1.1.0 — same xorriso bundling, same ARM64 prebuilts, same supported OS matrix. See v1.1.0 release notes for the full feature set.
