PaddleBoard v0.2.6
PaddleBoard v0.2.6 collects a month of fixes, including three that were visible the moment you opened the app.
Fixed
- Fixed a crash that killed the app whenever the Placid mode button in the status bar was clicked. This had been broken since Placid shipped.
- Fixed the main window not being draggable by its title area.
- Fixed left-docked panels — Manifest, the project panel — rendering underneath the macOS traffic-light buttons.
- Fixed user-facing messages that said "Zed" rather than "PaddleBoard", including the notification telling you a new version is available.
- Fixed Linux and Windows troubleshooting links pointing at Zed's documentation instead of PaddleBoard's own, which now cover inotify limits, the missing
xdg-desktop-portalfile picker, and software-emulated graphics.
Changed
- PaddleBoard no longer ships a default model. You choose one explicitly the first time you open the agent, and your choice is remembered. Previously a new install defaulted to Zed's hosted models, which meant your first request prompted you to sign in to a service you had not chosen.
- Zed's hosted models remain available as one option among many, alongside Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, local models, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. PaddleBoard is a fork of Zed, and signing in supports the upstream project — but it is never required.
- "Check for Updates" now reports what it found and asks before installing, rather than starting a download on its own.
Improved
- Improved documentation with new Linux and Windows platform pages at docs.paddleboard.dev, covering install, the glibc floor, build-from-source, and platform-specific troubleshooting.
- Merged the latest upstream Zed changes.
